Master Bedroom Makeover

Well, after many months of complaining about my master bedroom, I am finally done! I have been showing you pictures along the way but I thought that I would put it all together for you.

We started off by painting the walls a soft gray. We get a lot of light in this room and I especially love the gray as the sunshine is coming through.
I spent a lot of time going back and forth with what color I should paint the furniture and finally decided to go to the Dark Side {I guess Connor’s Star Wars obsession has rubbed off a bit on me!}.  The bed and the side tables got a couple of coats of Annie Sloan Chalk Paint {in graphite} and made a big impact on the room.
Although I loved the dark furniture, I still wanted a little white in the room.  I used some DIY chalk paint on our dresser to provide some contrast.
On of my favorite projects in the room was the photo canvas above the dresser.  I love the pop of blue {which is Annie Sloan Provence} and it was definitely the easiest project by far!
I carried some of the blue to the other side of the room as well with this painted stool.
We removed the wall sconces from beside the bed and added a new ceiling light instead.  After mulitple lights, I finally found one that I liked.  Unfortunately, we were unable to remove the electrical boxes from the wall {unless we wanted to take the whole wall down} so I was unable to do the wall treatment that I wanted.  I still think I will add something to the wall behind the bed at some point but I will live with it for now.
On the other side of the room I have my Edlund dresser turned desk {from Ikea} and a couple of favorite photos.  I love having a computer up in our room now since our main computer is two floors down in the basement.  My gigantic clock also found a new home just above the desk.
I also found some fun finds for my bare little corner.  You can never have too many places to hang your purses!

  It was a lot of work, but I am very happy with our new bedroom {well, except for that darn wall…}

  2. I love it! You did a fantastic job Jenn. Even though you painted the walls gray and the furniture dark, it still looks light and bright. The desk area is a great idea. Who wants to be running up and down two flights of stairs? Not me. lol =)

  7. Wow! Your bedroom looks AMAZING! What a transformation! OK…LOL…you are inspiring me to get to the dreaded makeover that needs to be done in my house! Still haven’t finished the million projects I’ve started…so our master has been the last one on my list! Great job!

  10. you are back your back yayyyyy!!!!!!!!! I keep checking and checking… and yayyy! :o) AND I love your bedroom!!! You did a perfect job! I love your style and I love all of the little perfect details! each and every corner is so darn cute! I wish I could come over to your place and just drool!!!! :o) AND thank goodness for your darker side obsession…. because I LOVE it! PS where did you find that light! I have been obsessively looking for lighting and can’t make a decision to save my life… where did yours come from??? Because I agree, it is perfect!

  13. This bedroom looks phenomenal and all it took was to paint the bed and a few other easy to do items. Finally something I can do myself. You ahve great taste!

  15. You know what- it’s a good thing you took that time off because your room looks A ++++ Baby! Your done, and it looks so pretty Jenn! Wish they still had that desk from IKEA- I love it! Your room looks great girl!

  18. Very nice! I bought a sample of the ASCP in graphite so glad to see how wonderfully your furniture turned out. Did you make the curtain panels? I really like the look overall ~ great job!

    • We painted a few years ago and my husband mistakenly threw out the remnants of the paint can. I know I wrote it down somewhere though so I will try to find it for you!
