After 10 years of living in our house, I finally got around to doing a little sprucing up in our piano room! I have been playing the piano since I was about 5 and taught piano for many years. This piano came with me when I moved from my parent’s house and I still enjoy sitting down to play whenever I get the chance.
This sunken room is right at the front of the house and is one of the first rooms that you see when you come in the front door.
Although I didn’t take any before pictures, the room pretty much just consisted of the piano, the black shelving unit {which I painted last year} and that lonely little artificial tree. It also used to be the home of our kids train table before it was relocated to Connor’s room for a Lego table.
Since I don’t get a whole lot of time to play, the room was rarely being used and I wanted it to be a little more functional. I created a little reading area in one of the corners and used an old crate to hold some of my current magazines.
The sea grass stool can be used to hold a drink or {more often} is a good place to put my feet up!
On the other side of the room, I added a desk so Dave could move his laptop and all of his other computer items off of our dining room table.
After many weeks of searching on Craigslist {and complaining about how much junk there is on there!} I finally ended up purchasing this desk. Look familiar? It is the Ikea Edlund Dresser {which is now discontinued} and the same desk that I actually have in our master bedroom. I got it for a good price though and knew that it would fit in the space. It was definitely an added bonus that I did not have to put it together this time!
A friend of mine makes those fabulous pallet wine holders and I mounted mine to the wall to hold books and notepads. The art work hanging above is from a calendar that I bought when we were in San Fransisco this summer. That old window tucked in behind is waiting for me to figure out what I want to do with it!
My favorite part of decorating a room is finding all of the accessories. I picked up the No. 4 pitcher and the baskets hanging on the back wall with the hydrangeas at an awesome little shop when we were down in LaConner at the beginning of the summer. I also bought that large scale clock which I LOVE {I seem to have a bit of a clock obsession and should show you my collection one day…} Most of the other accessories were just shopped for in other areas of the house. The mirror tray was on our dining room table but I love it standing up and the light from my Scentsy warmer looks really pretty reflecting off of it.
I hope you enjoyed my little tour. I thought I should show you now before the fall decor comes out!!
