Matthew’s 100 day is coming up this week at school and he had to bring a project to school using 100 of something. Ahhh, the possibilities! We talked about what kind of items he could use and he decided on cotton balls. I came up with these little guys:
I think they are kind of cute even if you don’t have a 100 day.
MATERIALS:
- cotton balls {we obviously used 100!}
- 2 clothes pegs for the legs
- black paint
- white glue
- black cardstock
- google eyes
- a button for the nose
- a little bell and ribbon
- 3 cardboard circles {ours measured around 4 inches in diameter}
HOW TO:
- Take apart your clothes pegs and paint them black.
- Once the clothes pegs are dry, put them back together and clip them onto one of the cardboard circles. Adjust the clothes pegs so that the sheep will stand up.
- Place a generous amount of glue on the cardboard and start adhering the cotton balls. {This will end up being the inside part of the sheep so you don’t need to use too many cotton balls up}. Glue one of the other pieces of cardboard onto the cotton balls. Flip over and repeat on the other side.
- Glue on the rest of the cotton balls making sure to fill in all of the gaps. Start layering the cotton balls to give the sheep more dimension. You want the cotton balls to from more of a sphere shape rather than just a flat front and back. {We were a little limited on this step since we were sticking to just using a 100 cotton balls!}
- Cut out the face and ears for the sheep using black cardstock. I just did a large oval for the face and 2 smaller ovals for the ears. Glue on the eyes and button nose and draw on a mouth.
- Add the bell to your ribbon and tape {or glue} the ribbon to the back of the face. Glue the face onto the sheep.
- I added a little bit of cotton to the top of my sheep’s head. For some reason the kids didn’t like that idea too much.
And then you have your own little herd of sheep!
Happy 100 Day!
