Valentine’s Day Treats
I know Valentine’s Day sometimes gets skipped over, but I love having a reason to celebrate in the middle of dreary February. There’s nothing like a day of love and chocolate to bring up your spirits! Today, I’m joining a few of my blogging friends and sharing some fun Valentine’s Day treat ideas with you. You can find all of the recipes at the end of the post, so be sure to check them all out!
Valentine’s Day Oreo Truffles
I’ve been making Oreo balls for Christmas since the kids were little and they’re always a big hit. This rich and decadent treat is surprisingly easy to make with no baking required. They’re so good that they really shouldn’t be reserved just for Christmas, so I thought that it would be fun to do a Valentine’s Day version. To make them seem a little fancier, I thought “Oreo truffles” was a little more fitting than “Oreo balls”. lol!
Whatever you call them, you’ll love the creamy, chocolately, Oreo filling. It’s melt-in-your mouth goodness that can be enjoyed all year long!

Valentine's Day Chocolate Oreo Truffles
These decadent chocolate Oreo truffles are so easy to make and are the perfect Valentine's Day treat. Package them up for a sweet Valentine's Day gift idea or save them for yourself!
Ingredients
- 1 cup semisweet chocolate chips
- 1 package (250 g) cream cheese {softened to room temperature}
- 1 package Oreo cookies
- 2 1/4 cups milk chocolate chips
- 2 tbsp shortening
- Valentine's Day sprinkles
Instructions
-
Process the cookies in a food processor. {NOTE: If you don't have a food processor you can use a pastry blender or place the cookies in a Ziploc bag and crush with a rolling pin.}
-
Melt the semisweet chocolate chips in the microwave. It's very important to melt the chocolate slowly to avoid burning. Set microwave to medium power and heat the chocolate chips for 30 seconds in a microwave safe bowl, stir and heat again in 30 second intervals until melted. If it's getting very close to melting, 10-15 second intervals are best.}
-
Place the cream cheese pieces in the food processor with the melted chocolate. Process until smooth.
-
Line a baking sheet with waxed paper. Form the cookie mixture into small balls and place on the sheet. For the heart shapes, press the mixture into a silicone heart mold. Cover and freeze for approximately 15-20 minutes until firm.
-
Combine the milk chocolate chips and shortening in a microwave safe bowl and microwave as above until melted. {The shortening helps to make the chocolate smoother and more manageable for coating}.
-
Using a fork, dip the balls into the chocolate mixture and coat completely. Tap off the excess chocolate on the side of the bowl. Place the dipped balls on the wax paper tray using another fork or toothpick to help slide the treat onto the paper. Sprinkle with sprinkles and allow to harden.
How to Serve Your Oreo Truffles
The little details are always my favorite part of any project and I love coming up with creative ways to display or gift food items. Here are a few ideas to customize your Oreo truffles for Valentine’s Day {or other holidays!}…
Heart-Shaped Oreo Truffles
The easiest way to get heart-shaped truffles is to use a silicone mold. I picked mine up at Michaels for a few dollars but this one on Amazon is similar. If you don’t want to purchase a mold, you could just shape the hearts yourself or roll out the cookie mixture and use a small heart-shaped cookie cutter. Switch up the mold for different holidays or seasons.
Oreo Ball Pops
Adding a stick makes everything more fun! To make them easy to grab for parties, trim a styrofoam block to the size of your bowl and wrap with Saran wrap. Stick in your Oreo ball pops and then cover with candy or shredded colored paper for a fun display.
Package Them Up
These Oreo balls fit perfectly in little mini-cupcake liners and can then be added to jars, little chocolate boxes or other food-safe packaging. I found these cute jam jars at the dollar store and two Oreo truffles fit perfectly. Add a little gift tag or Valentine’s Day card for a sweet gift idea.
Add some sprinkles or chocolate drizzle.
The quickest and easiest way to add a seasonal touch is with sprinkles! There are lots of fun varieties to choose from so mix it up! Alternatively, you could add some chocolate drizzle in whatever chocolate color you would like.
Change up the chocolate coating.
Personally I’m partial to just using milk chocolate for the coating, but you could always use white chocolate, colored chocolate candy melts, or white chocolate with a few drops of food coloring to change things up. White and pink would be cute for Valentine’s Day, a little orange for Halloween, or customize it for any color scheme you’d like.
I hope you enjoy these delicious little Oreo truffles as much as we do! Let me know if you try them.
