Hey guys! I am finally starting to feel that Spring is actually here! Since I spent most of my free time in March working on my craft space, I am a little late getting going on the Spring decorating. While I should have been getting going on the Spring cleaning this morning, I decided to do a little crafting instead!
It is simple to create and just requires basic scrapbooking supplies. Here’s what you’ll need:
- Picture Frame
- Scrapbook Paper {mine is Alphabet Soup}
- Rub-ons or stickers for the words
- Buttons
- Glue {I used Quick Grip}
- Black Ink
- Distressing Tools {optional}
TO DO
- Cover the photo opening with a piece of scrapbook paper. Using rub-ons or stickers, add whatever words you would like to the matting.
- Create your flowers. There are about a million options for this part but I will show you what I did. For the first and the last flower, I made accordion flowers {I think they actually have a proper name but I can’t think of what it is!} To make these, cut a 12 inch strip of scrapbook paper with a width of approximately 1 inch. For larger flowers, you can increase the width and glue multiple strips together. The first flower is made from one 12 inch strip of paper and the last flower is made from two strips glued together.
- Start folding the strip accordion style.
- Glue the ends together and let dry for a couple of minutes.
- Once the glue is dry, pop down the center of the folds and glue together to form the flower. I had to hold this for a minute or so until the glue set.
- I like the distressed look so for the paper circles in the center of the flowers, I crinkled them up and distressed and inked the edges. Then I just added a button.
- I did the same distressing techniques on the other flowers and just free handed some designs.
- For the flower stems, I cut a thin strip of paper, inked the edges, and pleated it. This was glued to the scrapbook paper. I then cut out some petals folded them down the center and attached a thin strip of double sided tape along the fold to attach them to the paper. You can then fold the edges up to add some extra dimension. {I know it’s kind of hard to tell from the photo} These would also look cute stitched on.
I hope this brings you a little Spring cheer!
