I have always loved using Post-it® Notes to help me stay organized, but when I received their Cape Town Collection, the amazing colors inspired me to create something else – a fun and easy ice cream party!
The colors from this collection just screamed summer, and what better way to celebrate summer than with ice cream! Summers around here are all about being simple and laid back and this ice cream party can be thrown together in no time with just some quick and easy planning. It would work great as a dessert bar for those summer BBQs too!
To get things organized, I created a simple party planning board using one of the Post-it® Notes Big Pads and some of the 3×3 notes.
I placed it up on the wall by where I was going to set things up, so that I could add to it as ideas came to me. You could always put it up on the inside of a cupboard door or on the fridge as well. This is a simple way to plan a party and will help keep everyone on track. When you are ready to go grocery shopping or to pick up supplies, the list is all ready to go – just pop off the Post-it® Note and head on down to the store. {As an added bonus, this also makes it very easy to hand off the list to your hubby to do the shopping for you!}
I also made up a to do list for each of us to do on the day of the party. Everyone can see what needs to be done and it makes the set up go so much smoother.
The party decor all revolved around the fabulous color palette from the Cape Town Collection.
I used the 1.5 x 2 inch Post-it® Notes for some food labels as well as for some name labels on the straws. I just notched out the bottom using some scissors for a little added touch.
For the straw name tags, place the straw in between two of the Post-it® Notes. To keep things held together better, place the sticky strip of the Post-it® Note on the top of one sheet and on the bottom of the other sheet {so there is adhesive to hold it together on both the bottom and the top}.
I also used the 3×3 notes as food labels to set the ice cream sauces on – just an added little pop of color!
The ice cream banner is super easy to print out using this easy template and free download. Download the template HERE and the banner HERE {One, Two, Three, Four} and save to your computer.
To construct the banner, print out the template and place a 4 x 6 Post-it® Notes on each of the two marked sections. Then you just have to run it through your printer as you would with a regular piece of paper when you are printing out the letters. For our printer, the Post-it® Notes were placed face down in the printer with the top of the Post-it® Notes positioned to the left. Your printer might be a little different so you may need to do a practice run!
Once it is printed, all you have to do is notch out the bottom and stick it to the wall. If you prefer to hang it, you can stick a second Post-it® Note to the back with some twine in between.
One of my favorite treats from the party was the lemonade floats that we created. All you need to do is add a couple of scoops of vanilla ice cream and top with lemonade. I added some fresh raspberries to mine and it was SO good! Can’t get much easier than that!
The clean-up from the party is a breeze and, as an added bonus, you will still have a bunch of Post-it® Notes left over to use for all of those organization and labeling projects.

What a great idea, I love post it’s (who doesn’t?) especially the bright ones but tend to just leave them for my teenagers in the summer holiday when I go to work – take the washing out of the machine, empty the bins, that sort of thing. This is WAY more fun, especially the banner. I wonder if it stayed up all day? I can imagine a gust of wind and mine would suddenly say I E CREAM or something. I guess on a nice smooth surface they would be ok.

As a teacher, mom, and blogger – I am a Post-It Note fanatic. I use them in class ALL the time and they are a lifesaver in my personal life. I never thought about using them for a party – but I ADORE this idea. I am certainly going to do some Post-It Note parties. Clever.
Thanks for the fabulous inspiration!
