I keep thinking that the sun will have to come out one of these days. We have not had a nice sunny day in weeks and rain is in the forecast for the next week. Really summer??? I am seriously getting bummed out!
Anyways, despite the weather, I have been working on one more project to add a little more color to my summer rainy patio. I am really loving the turquoise and red color combo right now so, using the spray paint left over from my storage bin, I repainted one of our old planters.
I’m sure I took some before pictures but I can’t seem to find where I stored them on the computer {or maybe I am just losing my memory!}
The metal plaque was first painted red and then the blue was painted over top. I sanded it down a bit so some of the red would show through and added the vinyl No.1 {just because no project is ever complete these days without some vinyl!}.
I did do some distressing on all of the wood but might end up doing a little more. I figure it will distress itself sitting outside in all this rain!
It adds a nice bit of color on an otherwise dreary day!
So with all the rain, the moles have been going to town on our lawn. We have nice little holes popping up all over the place and the grass has been so wet that we haven’t been able to mow it. Apparently, our cats have decided to go on strike too.
Here is one of our cats, Robin, pretending to watch over a couple of the mole holes. An hour later, two more mole holes were discovered with Robin passed out on the grass 10 feet away. Lazy thing!

This is SUPER cute!
And I’m glad we’re not the only ones “suffering” through all of this Summer rain (in Oregon!).

This is gorgeous! Love the colours. We have no summer either, although in the UK we don’t really expect one!
Hope you get some sunnier days soon

Hello! I’m a new follower of your blog – I am so glad that I found you! Everything you create is so pretty. Like you, I am currently obsessed with aqua & red – and sometimes I like to throw a little yellow into the mix too!
Can’t wait to read more from you – oh, and happy blogiversary, too!
Best,

Your planter is super cute – the colors are just right and I love the plaque with vinyl. So creative. Hope you get some relief from the rain, send some (and some cooler weather if you have it – it’s in the 100s today in Virginia) our way.
Hugs,
Mary

So funny about your cat. Sounds a lot like our dachshunds. They will “find” something in the yard, literally stake it for hours, not even realizing the animal has moved on to another location, then when said creator makes another appearance, my dogs are never prepared.
As you know, our animals give us a lot of laughs, don’t they?
I’d let the box distress naturally. The finish will look so much better since we can’t recreate quite the same look. Great idea putting the little boxes in the big one for a nice pop of color.

Where did you buy this tool box planter or did you build it yourself? Adorable..love it!
Do you have some type of plastic liner in the bottom for the water to drain out when the plants are watered?
Thanks for sharing this idea.
