I have been busy decking the halls around here – both inside and out – and I can’t wait to show you everything! The Christmas home tour officially starts on Monday, but today I’m sharing our winter wonderland Christmas front porch. Taryn from Taryn Whiteaker Designs is hosting a fun Christmas porch hop with some amazing bloggers and I’m so excited to be joining in.
We had a really beautiful start to our fall, but it feels like it hasn’t stopped raining since the end of October. The rain has created a bit of a delay on getting the front porch decorated for Christmas but it’s almost done. I thought that I’d still show you the photos today though and will update them once I have my final version. I honestly usually change my decor around a hundred times before I’m happy with things so, even in these photos, there are a few pieces that I’ve moved around.
I went with kind of a winter wonderland theme for our Christmas front porch this year. I love the snowy look – especially with the Christmas lights reflecting off of it – and most of it will be able to be left up through the winter.
The whole idea for the porch started with the two lighted trees. A couple of weeks ago, I tried some DIY Christmas tree flocking, and loved how quick and easy it was. As you can tell, pretty much everything got a good flocking by the end of it! I wanted to keep the trees pretty simple, so I just added some snowflake garland that I had left over from the inside decor.
The wreath and hanging baskets were all made with fresh greenery {tutorials to come!} and the flocking worked just as well on the fresh greens as it did on the faux. I’ve even read that it helps to preserve the greenery even longer. I’m going to have to change the pinecone and balls around on this hanging basket though – it totally looks like two eyes and a nose! lol!
I brought out a couple of vintage sleds to decorate either side of the porch – and, of course, I added more flocked greenery! I didn’t want to keep the porch all white so I did add a few pops of red with some oversized ornaments and some red berry garland. The other sled is already for a snow day – complete with a scarf and a corn-cob pipe!
Now hopefully, this is all the snow we get this winter! {And maybe a little less rain!}
