Use these simple tips to organize your cleaning supplies for quick and easy cleaning!
Today’s post is sponsored by Twist. As always, all opinions are 100% my own.
This past month, I’ve been looking at ways to make my cleaning routine easier and more efficient. I shared my basic daily cleaning routine last week, and today I wanted to talk about how I organize my cleaning supplies. It may seem like a little thing, but having your cleaning supplies organized and accessible can make it so much quicker and easier to keep your home clean.
So…take a little time this week to think about how you store and organize your cleaning products. Hopefully these simple organization ideas will help you shave a little time off of your household chores and make your cleaning a breeze!
Organization Tips for Quick and Easy Cleaning
Declutter your cleaning products.
Just like anything else in the house, cleaning products and supplies will need a good decluttering every now and then. There’s no reason to keep items in your home that you don’t use – so get rid of them! If the product is still good, see if friends or family would use it or if it could be donated to any non-profit organizations or charities. If you do have to dispose of it, recycle what you can and dispose of the rest appropriately. If you have small amounts of product left in various bottles, combine them into one bottle {if it is the same product/brand} or commit to using up those bottles first before opening up a new, similar product.
Keep your cleaning supplies as close to where you use them as possible.
The less time it takes you to find your cleaning products, the more likely you’ll be to use them. As much as possible, store your bathroom cleaning supplies in your bathroom, your kitchen cleaning supplies under the sink {or other specific area of the kitchen}, etc. If you’re short on space, just store what you would need for a month’s worth of cleaning and keep the larger product bottles stored somewhere else in your home that has more room. I like using glass spray bottles {just be sure to label them well} to hold most of my regular cleaning products. It looks a lot tidier than multiple different shaped and colored bottles, and you can see exactly how much cleaning product you have left.
Purchase high quality cleaning supplies.
If you’re going to clean, you might as well love your cleaning products! Look for supplies that are known to hold up well over time and deliver the cleaning power needed to get the job done. I’m always looking for new products that will help to make my cleaning more efficient and was excited to discover Twist a couple of months ago. Twist is a natural cleaning product line that uses 100% plant-based materials in all of their cleaning tools. Their sponges are biodegradable and made from all-natural hemp, agave, and cotton fibers. They’re dye-free, glue-free, and look pretty darn cute to top it off! Best of all, they work really well at tackling all of that grime and baked on food messes.
The dish dumpling and loofah dishwand are a couple of my favorites from the line, but I’ve actually tried all of the products and love them all! I even bought a second dishwand to use in our bathroom to clean our bathtub and tiles {the scrub sponges also work great for this}. It’s always awesome when you find a brand that combines cleaning strength, good looks, and an eco-friendly design all into one product line! Look for Twist on your next Target run or find the full list of products online HERE.
Minimize the amount of cleaning products that you use.
You don’t necessarily need a different cleaner for every little cleaning task. Look for products that are more versatile so they can be used for multiple tasks. Not only does this take up less space, but it also makes it faster to switch between cleaning tasks. Use the least amount of product as needed to get your cleaning task completed. More is not necessarily better! Using too much product can actually increase your cleaning time and any residue left behind can attract more dirt and grime leading to more frequent cleaning.
Optimize your storage.
If you’re short on space, look for creative storage options to keep those cleaning supplies handy. Adhesive hooks are great to hang cleaning cloths, towel bars can be used to hang items off ‘s’ hooks, and adhesive bins can hold larger items such as sponges or cleaning brushes.
Look for pretty ways to keep your cleaning supplies handy.
I find that if things are out in plain sight, I’m more likely to use them. It also makes it much simpler to put them away when I’m done. If you have items that are used regularly on a daily basis, consider keeping them out on the counter and look for pretty ways to display them to fit with your decor. A bathroom soap dish is much prettier than a kitchen sponge holder and works great to store my Twist eco-sponges.
Trays are another way to neatly corral cleaning products. They keep any drips from the bottles or sponges contained and can easily be moved off the counter for cleaning or to provide extra storage space when needed.
Put together a portable cleaning kit.
Take a little time to put together a basic cleaning kit in a portable caddy so it’s easy to carry your supplies to various spots around the house that you don’t have cleaning supplies stored. Make sure everyone in the house knows where it’s stored so they don’t have any excuses for not cleaning up if they make a mess! You can find some of my cleaning kit essentials HERE.
If you have any other tips for organizing your cleaning supplies, cutting down on your cleaning time, or easy cleaning ideas, I’d love to hear them! Otherwise, be sure to check out Twist and let me know what you think!

I like microfiber cloths to clean mirrors using just water and a dry one to dry and polish. This is easy to do daily when you finish getting ready for the morning. I also like to spray a grapefruit scented spray by “method” to polish the counter removing hairspray and water spots.
I keep my makeup in the top drawer and just open it to use and close to clean up…so simple. I have a white bath room and I like to accent the counter top with a nice piece of blue and white Chinese porcelain.
This said, clutter control on the counter is an ongoing battle, especially with two people using the counter… my only suggestion here is to use the attractive small rectangular baskets from Pottery Barn to contain things used daily, for those who must share a bathroom with someone who does not buy into empty counter tops. Then you can move them to clean and put the lid on when the clutter drives you crazy.
But as I learned long ago with college room mates: if you are the one who likes it clean, then you are the one to maintain it to your standards. and do it without complaining.

Sounds like we’re a lot alike! lol! I do the same with my microfiber cloths – I haven’t used glass cleaner in years. I’ve tried that Method spray too and really liked it. I also have my make-up in my top drawer in acrylic dividers and find it so easy to keep clean. My husband usually uses the same bathroom as the kids though so I don’t have to worry about cleaning up after anyone else. 😉 Good idea on the bins.

I got that quite a while ago. I think Bed, Bath, and Beyond? Target and Walmart should also have similar ones.

Great tips! I haven’t heard or tried Twist. The product looks really well made and does make your space a little more prettier than regular sponges. I love the wooden handles on the scrub brushes. I’ve been doing a lot of organizing and cleaning this year. It has been my main goal for the new year. I’ve been following a new system to help me through each day. I now have a new routine each morning and I focus on one main area for cleaning and organizing for that day. It’s crazy how much it has helped me so far. I wrote about my new system on my blog.

Great tips and ideas Jenn! I love your cleaning caddies! I keep mine in baskets under the sink but not as organized as yours! I love the idea of labeling the caddy; I would need to get a new caddy now and I need to remember to put my rubber gloves inside the caddy too! Hope you are having a great day Jenn!

Thanks! Baskets work too, but I like how sturdy the metal caddies are. And a cute pair of gloves is essential. 😉

Thanks for sharing your helpful tips! I need to get my kitchen sink area organized and like your white porcelain/wood tray for dish soap etc. Could you please tell me where this was purchased?
Thanks!
Jenn Lifford says
It was from Target in the bath section. 🙂

I love the look of the wooden cutting board… But I did that and it got water stained within hours. Any tips?
Jenn Lifford says
You can seal it with a clear wax if you’re getting water marks. A lot depends on the finish of the cutting board that you have. If you’re not sure you could bring it in to a home centre like Home Depot and see what they recommend. The wax just takes a few minutes to do though.

Everything is beautiful!!! I absolutely love the look of glass cleaner bottles. Glass, wood plastic..if it was up to me I’d have as little plastic as possible around me. But I can not get anyone to tell me…aren’t they heavy, cumbersome and difficult to hold in one hand? Sometimes on my plastic bottles, the bottom after much use falls off. (works it’s way open and unscrews) And so I am curious if aren’t glass ones potentially dangerous? Blessings! 💗🙏🌺
Jenn Lifford says
Surprisingly, the glass water bottles are hardly any heavier than the plastic ones and easy to hold in one hand. I’m sure there’s a difference in quality between brands but I’ve had mine for at least a couple of years and they are still working well with no problems with the trigger or nozzle. The glass is also quite sturdy – I’ve dropped them a few times on wood floor and they haven’t broken. It may be more of an issue if you have little ones, but I haven’t had any problems. I bought mine at Grove Collaborative if you’re looking for bottles. 🙂

Would you happen to have the link where I could purchase the dish soap tray? Your first photo it’s wooden with ceramic inside?
Jenn Lifford says
It was from Target in the bath section but, last time I checked, it was no longer available. I’m in Canada though so haven’t been down to Target for over a year due to the border closures so you could always check. Sorry!
