Kraft Paper Printable Christmas Gift Tags
I always like to match our Christmas wrapping with our decor. It may be weird, but that’s what I do. lol! Anyways, this year, I’m going more neutral in our family room with greens, whites, and gold, so I wanted a fairly simple, neutral gift tag. I thought that a “kraft paper” base would work perfectly with the color scheme and picked out a few basic wrapping papers that would complement the look as well.
5 Easy Gift Wrapping Ideas
I love dressing up our Christmas gifts and always have fun trying different toppers and embellishments. While I don’t do this for all of our presents, I do like to have a good collection of pretty gifts under the tree. Today, I thought I’d share some easy and inexpensive gift wrapping ideas with you to inspire you for your own gift wrapping this year. I think a little extra attention to details makes all the difference!
Layer your wrapping paper.
There are so many pretty wrapping papers out there, but they can be pricey – especially if you have bigger presents to wrap. Layering your wrapping paper using one solid paper and one patterned paper is an easy way to save a little money. Plus it looks so pretty! I love using kraft paper as a base and you can use any left over paper all year long. I also really like the white kraft paper but, depending on what you’re wrapping, you can sometimes see through to the packaging below.
Tie in some greenery.
A little touch of greenery always adds such a pretty touch to any Christmas gift. While I do love the look of real greenery, faux greenery also works if you’re wrapping early or don’t have access to fresh. I bought this pine needle pick at Michaels and just used wire cutters to snip off smaller pieces for the gifts. Since these were wired, I could just slip the wire into the ribbon tie. You could also use fishing wire or twine to attach if needed.
Add some dried oranges.
Dried oranges are super easy and inexpensive to make and add just that little pop of color to an otherwise neutral palette. {You can find an easy tutorial on how to dry orange slices HERE}. I think the oranges look so pretty against the kraft paper and greens. To attach them, I just strung them with a loop of fishing wire and attached them to the ribbon tie. Easy peasy!
Pick your embellishments.
A beautiful Christmas gift is all in the details! I always start with a pretty ribbon and try to find at least a couple of coordinating ribbons with at least one solid color. Then the fun part comes with all of the little embellishments! This year I used gold bells, pinecones, and some of the air dry stars I made earlier. Here’s a list of gift topper ideas for you but anything goes!
- silver or gold bells
- cinnamon ornaments
- air dry clay stars {or make other air dry clay shapes}
- berry sprigs
- pinecones. Use green floral wire to attach if they don’t already have picks attached.
- small Christmas ball ornaments in your color scheme. Just make sure they’re not breakable!
- pom poms {you can easily make your own with pom pom kits like these}
Find the perfect printable Christmas gift tag.
There are so many printable Christmas gift tag options to choose from! I created these simple “kraft paper” gift tags to go with our neutral decor this year, but they would really go with almost anything. All you have to do is download them, print, and then cut out with a paper trimmer or scissors. You can either punch a hole and attach with twine or ribbon or slide them in underneath your twine ribbon to secure. I printed my message on the back of the tags prior to attaching them. I just strung mine with fishing wire and wrapped them around the ribbon.
If these tags aren’t your style, be sure to check out all of the Christmas gift tag ideas at the end of the post. There’s something for everyone!

How to Use the Free Printable Gift Tags
Using the printable tags is pretty straight forward, but here’s a quick step by step tutorial if you haven’t really used printables before.
- Download whatever printable you would like to your computer. If you’re having trouble downloading, try using Google Chrome as your browser.
- Print out the tags. You want to use a thicker paper or cardstock for the tags so they don’t tear. For a little extra detail, use textured cardstock.
- Cut out the tags with a paper trimmer or scissors.
- Punch a small hole in the top. Due to the design on mine, I punched the hole in the corner rather than in the middle.
- Write out your message on the back of the tag. A little thoughtful note is always appreciated!
- Attach that tag to your gift with twine or thin ribbon.
- Add any extra embellishments or toppers to your gift that you’d like.
