Learn how to use a caddy to get organized! Simple and creative ideas to use a cleaning caddy around your home to save you time and energy!
If you’ve been around here for a while, you probably know that I love things tidy and organized. Not a surprise, right? I always feel so much more calm and relaxed when things are put away in their designated spot. Plus, I get distracted easily, so having everything that I need for a specific task in one spot really helps me to stay on task.
Why I Love Using Caddies
Caddies are one of my favorite ways to keep things organized and I use them all over the house – the kitchen, the bathrooms, the kids rooms – pretty much everywhere. Here are just a few reasons why I love to use a caddy to get organized…
- They’re easily transportable and great for storing items that you need to use in a variety of places.
- They provide a visually pleasing way of storing items of random shapes and sizes.
- They’re great for grouping similar items together.
- They help to keep you focused and on task.
- They’re versatile and can easily be switched up for different purposes.

How to Get Organized with a Cleaning Caddy
There are so many ways to use a cleaning caddy to keep you organized. You can use it for your beauty products, hair tools, craft supplies, household tools – the possibilities are endless! To help get you started, I’m going to show you some of my favorite ways to get organized with a caddy. I also have an awesome gift offer for you at the end of the post from Grove Collaborative so you can get your own FREE caddy filled with Mrs. Meyer’s cleaning products. I hope this gives you some inspiration!
Basic Cleaning Caddy
Of course, the traditional route for a cleaning caddy is to use it for organizing your cleaning supplies.This Grove Collaborative cleaning caddy is the perfect size for a basic bathroom cleaning kit and we have one stocked in all of our bathrooms. It makes it easy to pull out of our bathroom storage cupboards and do a quick bathroom cleaning without having to run around the house gathering supplies. Our must-have bathroom cleaning necessities…
- microfiber cleaning cloths. {TIP: Try using different colored cloths for different rooms so you know where to put them after doing laundry.}
- Norwex polishing cloth This is the best thing I’ve found for windows, mirrors, and any shiny surfaces.
- spray bottle of water
- spray bottle of multi-purpose spray. These multi-purpose cleaning concentrates are one of my favorite things from Grove. It smells great and uses SO much less packaging! You can also purchase it in a kit to save even more money. And to make it even pretties, I even created these free printable cleaning labels for you.
- cleaning toothbrush {for cleaning in crevices}
- cleaning gloves {I have boys. No further information needed. lol!}
Morning and Evening Beauty Routine Caddy
I keep a caddy full of my basic beauty products that I use every morning and night. When I’m getting ready, I just pull it out of our bathroom cupboard and there’s no digging around for all of the supplies I need. This has really helped me to stay on track when I’m getting ready in the morning and cuts down on my morning routine time. It’s also super quick to clean everything up and frees up counter space. Mine is stocked with…
- Beauty Counter Skin Care Products {I love their Countermatch line}
- Pixi Rose Cream Cleanser
- electric toothbrush
- Hello extra whitening flouride toothpaste and Hello activated charcoal flouride free toothpaste {I use the flouride toothpaste in the morning and the activated charcoal toothpaste at night. It works awesome!}
- Radius cranberry floss
- Grove nourishing organic coconut oil {I use this on my neck and chest for extra moisturizing but it’s great for any dry skin area}
- Norwex face and body cloth
- Deodorant
Bath and Shower Caddy
If you don’t have room to store your bath and body products in the bath or shower {or just want to keep them to yourself!}, put together your own little bath and shower caddy. It looks cute sitting on a pretty bath bench {or even on the counter} or store it away out of sight. If it’s going to be getting wet, I do recommend drilling a few small holes in the bottom for drainage. Stock up with:
- shampoo and conditioner in glass soap dispensers {it’s less messy to use and looks pretty!}
- Method body wash
- Norwex face and body cloth
- dry skin brush
- razor
- shaving foam
Basic Household Tools
Stock a caddy with your most commonly needed household tools so you can easily grab what you need anytime there’s a small home repair project. Here’s what we have in ours:
- multi-head screw driver
- utility knife
- tape measure
- duct tape
- pliers
- common Allan keys
Outdoor Summer Basics
I keep a little caddy stocked on our patio with any products that might be needed outside. Once you get comfortable outside, the last thing you want to do is head back inside to look for sunscreen or bug repellent! Just make sure you store it in a cool, shady place or take it back inside when you’re done. You don’t want the harsh rays of the sun damaging your products. Pack yours with:
- Hawaiian coconut spray sunscreen
- Babo Botanicals Clear Zinc Fragrance Free Sunscreen
- Sun Bum Suncreen {I prefer to use a lotion while the rest of my family likes the sprays!}
- Murphy’s Naturals Lemon Eucalyptus Oil Insect Repellant. This has worked great for us!
- Murphy’s Repellant Incense Sticks. These last for about 2 hours and remind me of a light campfire smell.
- Murphy’s Mosquito Repellant Candle. This is made from a beeswax / soy wax blend with a vareity of essential oils {although it smells mostly of the citronella when it burns}.
Personal Drink Holder
If you like lounging out on your back deck with a cool drink and don’t want to head back into the house every time you need a refill, create you own personal drink caddy. This caddy is just the right size to hold ice and a few bottles of wine or lemonade. It’s easy to carry outside, and so much cuter than a plastic cooler. Just fill it part way up with ice and add your favorite drinks. {You could always share with a friend too!}
Other Ideas for Using a Caddy
Still not sure what you want to use your caddy for? Here are a few more ideas…
- an art caddy with mason jars or plastic cups filled with colored pens, pencil crayons, pencils, pens, etc.
- a dog toy holder for small dogs
- a gardening caddy with basic gardening tools, gloves, seed packs, and a kneel pad
- a condiment or silverware/napkin caddy for backyard parties
- a gift basket. Caddies are perfect to wrap up gifts for birthdays or a housewarming gift and is so much more functional afterwards!
- a mini herb garden. Just make sure you either add some rocks for drainage on the bottom or drill some holes.
- a fruit or veggie basket.

Oh sorry Johanna! I meant to put a disclaimer in there for that- I’ll add it now.. Unfortunately, they don’t yet ship to Canada {although I have been told that they’re working on it). I live close to the border (and you can bill from Canada) so I have a US post box that I use for this and other online orders. Sorry!! They do have Mrs. Meyers up here now though. 😉

Jenn,
I read this post a few months ago, but as I’m I the UK, the items weren’t available for shipping. However, I found a lovely vintage style caddy on Amazon, and it now sits under my kitchen sink, and holds all my go-to cleaning bits and bobs in one place. It makes life so much easier; instead of hunting through various cupboards to get cloths and sprays together, they are all within easy reach. Genius!
I have now started to use a multi-purpose spray called Blue Magic, which has no nasty smell but cleans almost everything, including some fabrics. I now just need this spray, a bowl and a cloth, and I’m good to go.
Thanks for your inspiring blog!
