UPDATE: This post will be updated on the first of each month with links to the new monthly To Do list and new monthly calendar. Scroll down to find the monthly links. 🙂
First off, I am SO excited that so many of you are joining me in this year’s Household Organization Diet!!! Staying motivated in this whole organization process is just so much easier when you have support! We kicked things off January 1st with the 31 Day Home Detox but don’t worry if you haven’t started yet. You can join in ANY time!!
I have received a ton of emails with questions about the calendars that go with my cleaning binder and the monthly To-Do lists, so I thought that it might be easier to answer them all in one place and provide you with a little more of an overview of our plan this year. Please let me know if you still have any questions!
Where can I see all of the Household Organization Diet projects from previous years?
If you want to see all of the organization posts relating to the Household Organization Diet you can either click on the Household Organization Diet under the Organization tab at the top of the blog or head on over to my Household Organization Diet Pinterest Board.
Why can’t I find a to do list for all of the months from last year’s Household Organization Diet?
There is an easy answer for this one – I didn’t do one for each month! Since I have been doing this plan right along with you and real life happens, I did not always get a chance to blog about everything that I was doing. I think that I now have things under control though and plan to have a calendar and to do list for each month this year. 🙂
What exactly is the plan this year?
The Household Organization Diet will be starting off with a 31 Day Home Detox to kickstart us on our organizing journey. We will then be thoroughly cleaning and organizing one room per month throughout the rest of the year {with the exception of December when we will be working on getting things organized for the holidays}. Feel free to join in at any time and change it up as needed to better suit your needs. I will try to have the month’s To Do list and calendar posted by the first of each month so don’t forget to check back on the blog. I will also be posting the links to the calendars and to dolists on this page as they become available {see below}, so you can always check back here.
JANUARY – The 31 Day Home Detox
FEBRUARY – Cleaning and Organizing the Kitchen
MARCH – Cleaning and Organizing the Office/Paperwork
APRIL – Cleaning and Organizing the Bathroom
MAY – Cleaning and Organizing our Outdoor Spaces
JUNE – Cleaning and Organizing the Laundry Room/Front Entry
JULY – Cleaning and Organizing the Garage
AUGUST – Cleaning and Organizing the Kids’ Spaces
SEPTEMBER – Cleaning and Organizing the Master Bedroom
OCTOBER – Cleaning and Organizing the Basement
NOVEMBER – Cleaning and Organizing the Family Room
DECEMBER – Holiday Organization
I like everything to match. Will the To Do lists be in the same format this year?
I too like things to match so, yes, they will all be in the same format and coordinate with last years’s To Do lists. I will likely have a few updates and will, of course, have new calendars for 2015!
Can I please have all of the To Do lists from last year in one place so it is easier to download?
Here are all of the To Do lists from last year…
How to Clean and Organize the Kitchen
How to Clean and Organize the Bathroom
How to Clean and Organize the Front Entry/Laundry Room
How to Clean and Organize Outdoor Spaces
How to Clean and Organize the Garage
How to Clean and Organize Kids’ Rooms

What is the best way to stay connected and keep updated each month?
I will be posting the to do lists and monthly calendar by the first of the month each month so you can always just drop by the blog. I also post regularly on Instagram and Facebook and will try to do a little more Twittering this year! And to make sure that you don’t miss out on a post, sign up for my free weekly newsletter!
Whew!! Hopefully that answers all of your questions! Just leave me a comment or shoot me an email if there was anything that I missed.
To get you started, here is the January Calendar. You can see how I use mine on this post.
And for those of been asking, here is a printable version of the 31 Day Detox Diet!

I’m so sorry to hear about your loss – I can only imagine the pain and the feelings of being overwhelmed! It is a great time though to get rid of the old and start fresh. For the monthly to do lists, I am just doing the posts as I go each month, so I am posting the links to each month as it occurs {and will always update this post}. If you want to get more of a jumpstart, you can check out last year’s to do lists {although I did not do one every month} on my Household Organization Diet Pinterest board… https://www.pinterest.com/jliff/clean-scentsible-the-household-organization-diet/
Take care! xo

This will help me purge things to take to storage garage. Due to a small house and way too much stuff I’m going to take many things to a storage garage at least until I can go thru them without having night mare mess in whole house. My answer to messes up to now has been to stack things in our front hall (until I get to them, who knows when that might be. ) Sick of that mess I’ve decided to rent a small storage garage to get a start on some of mess. Your lists will help me get started and be accountable. Have to start someplace huh? Thanks for providing the lists. Happy New Year

Morning,
This was going to be the year that I got organised, but now we are moving house in a few weeks and all is crazy. But I have found your sight and am using it to eliminate all the things we don’t need or use. Guess that ” 1 day I may need it” is never going to come.
Thanks for the advice and checklists, and the reminding me of things that I had not thought of.
Jenn Lifford says
Good luck with your move! It’s the perfect time to get organized!
Becky says
Thank you so so much for all your work on this. I really admire how much work you put into this blog while still holding down a 5-day-a-week job! I have created my own cleaning schedule based on yours–since I don’t have kids I had to do some adjusting–and it is such a relief just KNOWING I have a plan to get to each chore throughout the year. The enormous task of “spring cleaning” is absolutely unacceptable to me. I hate cleaning. This way I can get everything done in small, reasonable bites, and I don’t have to worry about my neat freak MIL breathing down my neck about how often I clean “her son’s” house. Oops! TMI. Thanks again for everything. Looking forward to the May list!
Ilse Helena riehs says
Hi from Brazil!!
Your organization Project is so helpfull.
I`m anxious for May´s calendar and to do lists.
Jenn Lifford says
Oh sorry! The post is up – just forgot to add the link here but added now. Happy May! 🙂

Hi from Australia.
What great timing it is finding your site. You are a life saver! Just had a new white kitchen installed so I am confronted by a forest of boxes that need to be sorted and hopefully reducece the clutter. I’ve had cupboards purpose built so a big part of the problem is sorted. I am looking forward to sitting down with a cuppa and getting organized!
Thanks for making my life a whole lot easier.
Jenn Lifford says
Lucky you with a new white kitchen! Hope you have fun getting things set up and organized – my favorite part!

When will the September list be available?
Jenn Lifford says
It’s actually been up for a while – it just sometimes takes me some time to remember to update this page. 😉 I always post around the first of the month so you can always just check there if you don’t see the link. Updated it now though – thanks for the reminder!

Hey! I love these ideas and I’m going to start next year, I was wondering, where can I get a printout of the last three months, October, November and December?
Thanks so much!!
Jenn Lifford says
I just do them as I go Lyndsey, so they come out around the first of each month. 😉
Nancy says
Is there a November Task List?
Jenn Lifford says
Yes! It is running a little late this month as I am also doing the Christmas organization. It should be up on Tuesday. 🙂
Jessica says
Will you be posting the October and November Task Lists?
Jenn Lifford says
Just wanted to make sure that you found them. All of the links have been updated here…

It will run again in 2016. The calendars and tasks are posted on a monthly basis.

Please tell me you’ll continue this into 2016! So great for those, like myself, who have organizational issues!!
Jenn Lifford says
Yes, it will be running again in 2016! 🙂

Jen thank you for all your suggestions. Found you the end of last year enjoyed using you’re ideas on purging. GREAT TIPS!!!!! So glad to be able to follow you right from the start of 2016. We are going to be downsizing in a few years and want to get a head start. As we want to LOVE the things we have. Also to keep things clean and organized so when we do sell everything will go much more easily for us. As we do not want to rent storage to keep our unused possessions. This will enable us to clean and purge as well as to be aware of what will be going when we do move. Really was thrilled you wrote me as to how to handle letters…..it is hard but one box is all I will keep 🙂 Thank you for all your hard work in maintaining this sight with your already busy life.
Patricia says
Will there be new calendars for 2016? I know it’s early in the year, but hoping you will continue with those. Thanks for helping to keep us on track!
Jenn Lifford says
Yes! There will still be monthly calendars. You can find the January calendar here…

Do you have these for 2016?
mRS. d. says
Family heirlooms are the most difficult! The letters and photos are beyond the pale to deal with!!!! It breaks my heart to see antique family pictures for sale! Where is the family they belong to? I love the solution of scanning and backing up copies. There are many companies out there that will restore, digitalize, store on a site you can let other family members get to and send you back the originals, So our family is doing that. I also have a serious love affair with 3 ring binders. So, make sure you use acid free paper and plastic sleeves. I have notebooks divided into our family branches. Example: my mother’s family, one for her core family , like my aunts, cousins etc.; then I have one each for her paternal relatives and one for her maternal relatives. The nice thing about 3 ring binders is that it’s easy to add to as you find items. I also write notes about the pictures on the white paper that it is in front of, who, place, and any other info I know about the person. If you really want to get fancy you can get those little black photo corners and actually mount the pictures. Just be sure everything is acid free!!!! Even the ink you use! Older paper / pictures can be damaged by handling them. The oils from your hands can speed of the deterioration process. True archivists always wear gloves. I don’t go that far, but it does make one think about how to preserve those items in a way that you can still enjoy them yet not ruin them for future generations!
One more note, I have pretty much done the same thing for my son but for each year of school.! He has a binder for each school year. I only kept art work and original compositions. If the art work was too big, I took a photo and put it in the book. I did keep a few art projects that were extra special and framed them. I keep all certificates, awards, and put his school picture in there too! It has turned out very well and easy to find materials he might need quickly. This year he had a project at school that said he needed things from specific grades. No need to freak out, I just pulled the corresponding year/grade notebook and there was everything we need!
Great posts!!!! Keep up the good work!
Jenn Lifford says
Great tips! We do the binder thing for our kids too – although I must admit that I am a couple of years behind! Good for you for finding solutions that work for you to both cut down on clutter and preserve those treasured heirlooms. 🙂
Theresa Kwasniewski says
Hi there! First thing, I LOVE YOUR SITE!!! There is such of a wealth of information here that it can be overwhelming but in a good way! I was trying to get a head start on my notebook and all I am seeing is the printables for 2015 and nothing for 2017. Do you have anything for 2017 as of yet?
I am also unable to print any of the checklists to go along with the calender’s as they are not in JPEG format. When I download each one, they are coming up in my windows picture format and it will not print out correctly as it is not capable of being opened in my Adobe Reader! Is there any way to have them in sent to me in another format?
I am hoping that this can be done as I am eager to get my notebook set up and start to actually getting busy on my cleaner and more organized home. 🙂 I look forward in hearing back from you….
Take care, Theresa
Jenn Lifford says
Hi Theresa! I’m glad you’re hoping to join in! I do have a new set of printables that will be coming out in 2017. January’s printables and info on this year’s plan are found in these posts…
https://www.cleanandscentsible.com/2016/12/the-31-day-home-detox-2017-january-decluttering-challenge.html
https://www.cleanandscentsible.com/2016/12/household-organization-diet-2017.html
The printables for this year will be in PDF format. If you’re looking at the printables from the past year, they are all JPEGs so that’s why they’re opening in picture format. If you save them to photos and then print from there, they should work.
I hope you join in!

Hi there luv your blog..I use to use Martha Stewart Home/Office supplies but Staples has stopped
selling her line 🙁 I am located in Alberta Canada not sure exactly where your located but it seems to
me you have access to her products. I really don’t want to use any random office supplier.
Thanks
Sincerely,
Jenny B
Jenn Lifford says
I was so sad to see the Martha Stewart line go from Canada and a lot of the products have been discontinued from the US as well. I live close to the US border {just outside of Vancouver} so the only time I can grab supplies is when I go down there. You can’t even order from Canada on line from the US site. 🙁
Keri says
Just discovered your site and you are AMAZING! Downloaded the calendar for decluttering but seems to be January only, and it’s for 2015. Do you keep updating this calendar for each year? I love your forms! Thank you.
Jenn Lifford says
Hi Keri! Sorry, your comment got buried in spam! lol! Yes, I do update the calendars each year and the 2019 calendar will be out just after Christmas. I’ll be releasing the full calendar this year at one time. 🙂
