Sometimes projects come together quick and easy and sometimes they take forever.
Let’s just say that Connor’s room has been one of those forever projects. For Christmas, he wanted a new desk and more of a “big boy” room. We got rid of the little road mural on his wall, repainted his room, purchased a new desk from World Market, and picked up a few fun accessories.
And then progress kind of stopped. It is always seems to be those last 20% of projects that I seem to have trouble completing! Since I have been working hard on tackling my terrible habit of procrastinating, I decided to get going on the room again.
Project Number One is to come up with some kind of shelving or feature wall for above the Ikea Expedits. That one is still, unfortunately, a work in progress; however, I do have Project Number Two completed…
Connor’s room has this short little entryway when you first enter his room. After not really doing anything with it in the past, I decided that it would make a great little mini-mudroom for him to store his hoodies and shoes {and, of course, his hockey jersey}.
I picked up the coat rack from Decor Steals and bought the wire basket from Home Sense to hold a couple of pairs of shoes.
I also found this unfinished pine bench at Goodwill last November and it has been patiently waiting to be painted.
I painted the bench using Homestead Blue from Fusion paint {you can read more about this amazing paint line here} and then used Lamp White to paint the grain sack stripe using the same method as I used on my Ikea step stool.
I love how the blue adds a nice pop of color to an otherwise fairly neutral room. It also happened to work perfectly with the blue from his bedding, so I am now also thinking of painting his bookshelf in there too.
Isn’t that always the way it happens? As soon as you finish one project, you come up with another one to replace it?
Hopefully I will have the rest of his bedroom to show you soon, but for now, the entryway is ticked off of my to do list. 🙂

Connor’s bench looks great as does the rest of his room.
I can relate to your struggles with procrastination. I have two sewing projects that I’ve been putting off for years. I’m going to follow your example and get one started this week.
