These ice cooler themed cards and gift ideas are fun to give and can totally be customized with whatever goodies you would like.
With summer right around the corner, any beach or camping themed present is always fun for Father’s Day. While these Father’s Day cards can really be given with any gift, there are a number of ways that you could use the messaging on the cards to tie in with the gift itself. Just add a sweet message to the card or tag, and you’re good to go!
Fill an Ice Cooler
There are so many different ice cooler options out there – from backpacks and picnic coolers, to larger camping coolers. This would make a great gift in itself or fill it with your Dad’s favorite items for a cool gift basket idea. I’ve listed a bunch of ideas for you below to help get you started.
Favorite Drinks
Grab your Dad’s favorite drinks or put a basket or cooler together with a selection of drink options.
Reusable Ice Cooler Packs
We never seem to have enough reusable ice packs in the summer so these always make an inexpensive and functional gift. I prefer the moldable ice packs vs. the hard ones. They fit better in the coolers and can also be used as an ice pack for injuries or just to cool down!
Personal Cooling Items
Anything that helps you stay cool in the summer heat makes a cute little gift. These cooling towels work great for lounging by the lake or walking around a theme park. Personal mini fans or water misters would also be great!
What items can I put in an ice cooler gift basket?
The best thing about putting together a gift basket is personalizing it! There are a variety of different items that you can add to an ice cooler gift basket based on your budget and what your recipient wants and needs. Once you’ve chosen the style and size of cooler you want, it’s time to fill it up! Here are a few ideas to help get you started…
- water bottle, cups, or mugs {or try these fun custom ones!}
- tasty snacks and treats
- favorite drinks
- reusable ice packs
- personal mini fan
- gift cards for an outdoor store or restaurant for picnic food
- picnic blanket
- plastic cutlery and plates
- mini s’mores kit
- frisbee or other outside games
How to use the free printable Father’s Day cards and tags.
- Download one of the free printable Father’s Day cards below and print it out. There are options for both Dads and Grandpas.
- Decide what card format you would like. You can print it out as is, fold in half, and then trim down to the size you want. Or, you can cut out just the front frame and glue it on to colored or patterned cardstock for a more custom look. You could even just use it as a tag and punch a hole in the top. It’s up to you!
- The card is designed to be about a 5×7 depending on how closely you trim it down. If you’d like the card smaller or just want some smaller tags, you can always adjust the size on your printer before printing. All printers are a little different but, on ours, I just choose a percentage to scale the image down by.
- Write your message on the inside of the card {or back of the tag}.

What to write in a Father’s Day card.
The best part about any Father’s Day card is what’s written inside. My husband still keeps all of the kids’ old Father’s Day cards and craft projects, and I know he loves looking back at the sweet {and often really funny!} words that they wrote in them. If you have little kids, ask them some card prompts like “What do you love most about your Dad”, “What’s the best thing that Dad ever did?”, or “Why is your Dad fun?”. They can come up with the BEST responses and you really never know what they’ll say!
If you’re older, take some time to put down your feelings in words. Life can get busy and we often don’t say how much we appreciate and love our dads. A few sentences written by you will mean so much more than a card that you can buy in the store. Let him know what you love about him and what makes him special to you. Just speak from the heart and it will mean the world!
I hope you enjoy the cards and have fun celebrating all of the wonderful Dads, Grandpas and other father figures out there! This customized camping gift bag and camping mugs would be another great gift idea!
