Simple fall decorations to add warmth and coziness to your family room space. Decorated in traditional fall colors with pops of blue.
Hello! I’m sharing the last of our fall home tour today with our cozy family room. {If you missed the previous rooms, check out our fall front porch, fall front entry, fall dining room, and fall kitchen}. After a fairly warm and sunny September, the rain and cooler temps have now hit. Fall weather is here and it’s time to snuggle up!
Our family room is located right off of our kitchen and is pretty much used for everything from playing with the dogs, to watching television, to just chilling and relaxing. It’s in need of some furniture upgrades {we haven’t really replaced anything in the 15 years that we’ve lived here}, but with two boys, three dogs, and two cats, it’s kind of nice not to worry about new furniture being destroyed for now. 🙂
Seasonal decorating in this space usually starts with some pillows and a few cozy throws. I always try to look for pillow covers that can be removed so they’re easy to store and easy to wash. Occasionally I fall in love with pillows that don’t meet this criteria {like these pumpkin ones from Pier One!}, but I try my best to stick with the plan.
I went with a mixture of traditional fall colors with some pops of blue for our family room this year. I always love the neutral fall decor but I can’t seem to help myself from adding color.
We have a really long mantel, so I generally keep it pretty simple. This year I added a fall garland, some twinkle lights {because there has to be some benefit to darker days!}, and white and copper pumpkins. A little metallic is always good, right?
I’ve been working on Dave to let me paint this banister for years now, but, as you can see, it’s still oak. Our floors will need replacing {or at least refinishing} in the next year or two, so I’m really hoping we can do something with them at that time. I’m not sure if I would paint them all white or do a white/black combination of some sort, but I just feel like a change is needed. What do you think?
The Hello Fall Fox print that you see in the background, is a free printable that I posted a couple of weeks ago. You can head here if you would like to download a copy for yourself. There’s also another version available too that you can see below.
I added a few more metallics and white pumpkins to the rest of the space along with a few faux branches and leaves.
And, of course, I always seem to sneak in a chalkboard of some kind! 🙂
One final view looking back towards our kitchen.
Happy Fall Y’all!
