Extend your living space out onto your patio this fall with these simple fall patio decorations.
I partnered with Phantom Screens for this post and I’m sure you’ll love their retractable screen door options. As always, all opinions are 100% my own.

One of the things that I knew I would miss the most with the start of fall, was spending time out on our back patio. We did quite a large patio makeover this summer and we’ve really enjoyed our time out there. Thanks to some beautiful fall weather, however, we’ve actually been able to extend our patio time much longer than anticipated and I’ve enjoyed adding a few fall decorations to cozy up the space.
The transition from summer flowers to traditional fall colors can be a little tricky, so I went with purple to blend the last of the summer flowers in with some new fall plants. It kind of fits with the red leaves too. 🙂
One of the new things we added at the end of the summer was a new retractable screen door for our french doors. It was kind of late in the season, but this way we will be all ready to go for patio season next year!
{excuse all of the muddy paw prints but that’s fall weather for you!}
We love to keep our back doors open during the warmer months, but there’s always that fine balance between letting the fresh air in and letting all of the bugs in! We did have a regular screen door many years ago, but I ended up taking it off since I didn’t like the look of it and didn’t always want to have the screen door there.
While I had heard of retractable screen doors before, I assumed that they would be hard to get installed and wasn’t sure how they would fit with our existing doors. I was so happy when I came across Phantom Screens and learned that it would be no problem getting retractable screen doors installed. Phantom Screens took care of the whole installation process and everything was measured and completed in less than two hours. This made my husband very happy as he is not a big DIYer!
Phantom Screens has a wide range of color choices {including custom colors if needed} to ensure that the screen doors blend seamlessly with your existing door frame and style. For our french doors, there are actually two screens that meet in the middle so we can just use the one screen if only one door is open or if we’re just letting the dogs in and out.
If you have pets, the other thing that I love about these screens is that the screen pops out along the bottom if there is pressure put against it to reduce the chance of any tearing. If it does come out, you can easily put it back in place within a couple of seconds.
I also love that they don’t obstruct the view from inside when looking out.
One of the best things that we did with our patio renovation this summer was to add a covered section to the patio. With our frequent rain showers around here, it’s so nice not to have to worry about covering or moving the cushions in every time it might rain.
It’s also quite lovely to sit out here with a big cozy blanket and the fireplace on when there are some light showers. There’s always something soothing about the sounds of a light rain.
For this area, I kept most of our summer pilllows and blankets out, and just added some pumpkins and a new fall pillow. There’s a storage bin for extra patio cushions behind the sofa so I placed some mums and some lighted faux fall leaves on top of that as well. Everything looks so pretty when it’s all lit up at night!
So what about you? Do you still spend time outdoors during the fall?

So do you find you have issues with bugs/spiders getting on the blankets and pillows since they’re outside? curious bc we are getting a patio next spring. Thanks 🙂 This is beautiful by the way. It’s like from a magazine!

Thanks so much! We haven’t had any problems with bugs so far. There are a few spider webs at the corner of the patio but they were there in the summer too and the spiders have been staying off my stuff. 😉 I’mint sure if we’ll bring the cushions in or just get some good covers for the winter months. I hope you enjoy your new patio!

Thanks so much! I can’t remember the name of those flowers for the life of me. I had asked at the garden center when I purchased them and thought that I’d totally remember the name but…. 🙂
I had a larger orange one on our front porch too.
