Fall Mantel Ideas

I always find our mantel a little hard to decorate because it’s so long! I don’t like a cluttered look, but I don’t want it to look bare either. The balancing game is tough – lol! This year, our fall mantel was inspired by amber glass bottles and golden oak leaves. I think it’s my favorite one yet!

Garland

I started the mantel with a golden oak garland that I bought from HomeSense a few years ago. I love a good quality garland for seasonal decor as they can be used for many years and in a variety of ways. My favorite garlands are ones that have a lot of pliability so you can bend and move the branches around to give it more movement and dimension.

Amber Bottles

I found a couple of battery operated string lights at Target a few weeks ago and they instantly jumped into my cart. I wasn’t exactly sure what I was going to do with them, but I knew they would make a great addition to our fall decor. After playing around with them in a few different spots, they finally ended up on our mantel. It’s hard to tell from the photos but they look so pretty when the sun shines one them!

I also ordered a few more smaller glass amber bottles from Amazon to fill in a few of the little gaps and add a little more dimension.

Fall Stems

I filled the vases with these faux eucalyptus fall stems. They pulled both the yellow from the garland as well as the amber from the bottle and they worked perfectly to add some height. I also used some wheat stems for a little more golden color.

Mini Lights

To finish things off, I added some battery operated string lights throughout the garland. Everything is prettier with lights! Look for lights that have an automatic timer so you don’t have to worry about turning them on and off each day. It’s so nice to come home at night and have the lights already twinkling!
