Embrace the coziness of fall with these beautiful fall living room decor ideas. Simple tips that anyone can do to create a fall space they love!
Fall Home Tour
I’m so excited to get going on the first part of our fall home tour! The weather has been much cooler and even a little rainy this week so it’s the perfect time to start getting ready for fall. Today I’m joining Marty from A Stroll Thru Life for her fall home tour and showing you our fall living room decor. If you’re coming over from Seeking Lavender Lane – welcome! I’m sure you loved Deb’s home!
Our Fall Living Room Decor
The living room was lots of fun to decorate this year since we just finished up our living room makeover last month. Having a different furniture layout and a couple of new spots to decorate allowed me to play around with our seasonal decor items a bit more. While there were a few things that I kept the same, I always try to switch up how and where I use our seasonal decor pieces to give them a new take each year. It’s fun to come up with new ideas and it makes them seem like they’re new again!
Fall Living Room Decor Ideas
If you’re looking to add some seasonal decor to your living room this season, here are a few ideas to get you started. Embrace the coziness of the season and enjoy the process! Even one or two little changes can make an impact.
Give the room a good clean.
One of the things I do each season before I put up the seasonal decor, is take everything off the shelves and floor and give the room a good cleaning. It’s a great time to clean all of those little areas (corners, baseboards, tops of wall hangings, light fixtures, etc.} that often get missed with the regular cleaning. Open those windows up and let in some of that crisp autumn air while you’re working. It will make you move a little quicker and will freshen the room at the same time!
Toss on some cushions.
Adding a couple of fall throw pillows is an easy way to add a seasonal touch and some coziness to your space. To save on storage space, look for pillow covers that can just be slipped over your current pillows instead of buying the full inserts. {Living with Amanda has some super cute fall pillow covers!}
While fall themed pillows can be cute, the pillows don’t specifically have to be fall related. It could just be a cozier texture or have a bit of an accent color that pulls from the rest of your fall decor. These geometric print pillows had just the right pop of orange for the space so they weren’t too overwhelming.
If you don’t like to keep a lot of pillows on your sofa, keep extras stored in basket for when they’re needed.
Add some throw blankets.
I’m one of those people that is always cold, so I love having throw blankets around. They’re also perfect for cuddling up on the sofa and watching a movie or reading a book. Throw blankets are also an easy way to add color and texture to your space. Store blankets on a blanket ladder, roll them up in a cute basket, or drape them over the sofa for easy access!
Decorate the Mantel
Decorate your mantel with a few seasonal touches. Try to repeat elements or colors in your mantel that you use elsewhere in your space to tie it all together. I shared all of our fall mantel ideas yesterday on the blog {along with 25 other beautiful fall mantels!} so just click HERE to check it out.
Put together a fall vignette.
If you have a side table or sofa table, put together a simple fall vignette. It could just be a vase filled with fall stems or wheat, a cute fall sign or some faux or real pumpkins. Pick something that you love and will use for years to come!
Add some fall scents.
Light a fall candle or add some fall essential oils to a diffuser to add some fall scents to your space. I always enjoy switching up the scents each season, but I think fall has my favorite scents of the year. I love all of those fall spices!
Put it all together.
Now that you have all of the little bits and pieces of putting the room together, here are a few more shots of the room to give you a better idea of the layout…
It’s a pretty open floor plan so if you’re looking opposite of the mantel you look back on our kitchen and kitchen table.
And here’s a little bird’s eye view for you from the upstairs hallway…
I hope you enjoyed the little tour and feel inspired to do a little seasonal refresh in your own home! Next up on the tour is Our Southern Home, so be sure to say hello! Christy has a beautiful home decorated in a vintage French country style. I’m sure you’ll love her!

This living room looks so cozy! Love the pops of orange in the beige. Pinned for inspiration. Also picked it as one of my features at this week’s Snickerdoodle Create Bake Make Link Party, which goes live tomorrow (Saturday) at 5pm EST.
