Create a cute Easter egg hunt Easter planter using tropical plants and a few simple Easter decor pieces. Makes a pretty Easter centerpiece!
Easter Egg Hunt Easter Planter
I love brining fresh greenery into our home during the spring. It adds such a nice pop of color and just seems to bring everything to life again. I made a tropical planter last spring and loved it so much that I decided to make another one this year. But this time I put a little Easter twist on it. If you look closely through the planter, you can find hidden Easter eggs and, of course, a cute little bunny guarding it all!
Easter Planter Tutorial
This Easter planter can be made in less than 30 minutes for a pretty Easter touch. Have fun putting your own spin on it. Pretty much anything goes!
Materials
- container of your choice {similar ones here and here}. You could also check your local garden centers.
- potting soil
- a variety of tropical plants and ferns. Look for different heights, textures, and coloring. I don’t know the names of all of the ones I used but here are a few of them in mine: plumosa fern, fragrans maidenhair fern, pteris fern, and club moss. The flowering plant is a Kalanchoes. This can be either trimmed back once the flowering is done or it can easily be replaced with another flowering one.
- white ceramic bunny. I got this one up at one of our local garden centers {West Coast Gardens} but you can find them pretty much everywhere Easter decor is sold. These ones would also work well.
- small rocks of various sizes
- small styrofoam or ceramic eggs
- wood pieces or other add-ons for extra texture and interest
- small paint brush or old make-up brush
Instructions
- Place a thin layer of soil in the bottom of the planter. Add the taller plants and move them around to get the look you want. Once you’re happy with it, take them out of their pots and slightly break up the roots.
- Place a couple of small wood pieces around the container to add extra texture and interest. Play around with their positioning until you get the look you like.
- Place the white bunny at the front of the planter.
- Fill in any holes with smaller plants. Look for smaller trailing plants, moss, or lower height plants. Top up with any soil in any remaining gaps.
- Use a small paint brush to remove any loose soil and top with decorative rocks.
- Hide some small Easter eggs throughout the planter.
I placed my Easter planter on a round wood cutting board for a simple Easter centerpiece. It’s a pretty, neutral piece that could be used almost anywhere. I love the subtle Easter touch!
