Hi there! It’s Erin, stopping by from The Organized Life once again. Can you believe Christmas is just a few weeks away? I love all things Christmas, I really do: the music, the hustle and bustle at the mall, cookie baking, family gatherings… But let’s be honest, the holidays can also be super stressful. There are meals to prepare, guests to host, presents to buy (and wrap), and the ever-looming question of what to get your mother-in-law?
Today, I’m sharing a simple, homemade gift that is perfect for teachers, neighbors, hostess gifts, or slipping into your own closet or drawers. Bonus: the smell of lavender is supposed to help calm you, so while you make these sachets, all that Christmas stress will just melt away (ahem, hopefully).
MATERIALS:
- Small Muslin Bags with Drawstrings (Mine were 3″ x 4″)
- Dried Lavender (or other filling of your choosing- cedar would be nice for a more masculine scent)
- Optional Add-Ons: Ornaments, Image Transfer Paper and Iron, Gift Tags
I chose to create a small graphic to iron onto my bags. I did this by making the image on my computer, printing a mirror image onto transfer paper, and ironing it onto the bag. Here is a printable of the mirror image of the labels so you can print them for yourself if you’d like: Lavender Sachets Printable .
Fill the bag about 2/3-3/4 of the way full with dried lavender.
Pull the drawstring tight and knot it off so none of the contents spill out. (If you find bags without a drawstring, you could always tie the top with twine or ribbon.)
You can now hang one in your closet, or toss it in a drawer.
Add a gift tag or small ornament, and you are ready to spread the cheer… ahem… calm.
Enjoy this holiday season!
I would absolutely love to keep in touch!
