Fall Decorating
Now that Labor Day is over and the kids are heading back to school, it really feels like fall is on the way! I know that there are a few official weeks of summer left, but I’m definitely starting to feel all of the fall vibes. I even brought out the rest of the fall decor this weekend!
Today, I’m sharing this pretty copper fall hoop wreath. I’m loving the copper and amber tones this fall and wanted to put something together for our front door. This wreath is easy to create and can easily be customized to your personal style.
Copper Fall Hoop Wreath Tutorial
Materials
You only need a few supplies for the wreath and all of them can easily be found at general craft stores {some affiliate links are also included}. If you choose to add a sign, you can either use a pre-made sign or follow the instructions for a customized sign below.
For the Hoop
- wood hoop. Mine is a 16 inch diameter.
- faux fall leaves sprigs {I got mine at Michaels}. Look for ones that can be bent into your desired shape.
- fall embellishment pick{s} such as pumpkins, pinecones, large acorns, etc. for the focal point
- copper spray paint
- copper floral wire
- wire cutters
For the Sign
- 1/4 inch hobby board {found at Home Depot or other home supply stores}
- spray paint
- Cricut cutting machine, letter stickers, or paint pen to add the lettering.
Directions
- Spray paint the hoop with copper paint.
- Separate the stems of the leaves and then tie 2-3 of the stems together with the copper wire so they’re easier to work with.
- Start in the bottom center of the wreath. Wrap the fall embellishments that you would like to be the focal point with wire and wrap securely around the hoop.
- Using the wire, secure the rest of the sprigs starting from the bottom center and moving outwards in either direction. Use the wire cutters to trim down the stems if needed. Fill in any bare spots by fluffing and bending the leaves until you achieve the look you like.
For the Sign
- Cut the wood to your desired length and spray paint it copper. Allow it to dry completely. Sand lightly if needed.
- Add the wording using vinyl, stickers or, a paint pen. I used my Cricut to design the ‘Hey There Pumpkin’ letters for my sign {Hello Sunshine and Third Story fonts}.
- Add the sign to your hoop wreath using twine. Wrap the twine multiple times around each end and then tie it around the hoop to secure. I liked the added dimension and rustic look of the twine, but you can just hot glue the sign to the hoop if you prefer a cleaner look.
