These easy DIY bath salts and free printable Christmas gift tags make a sweet Christmas gift idea or stocking stuffer. Make them for friends and family, teachers, neighbours, and even hostess gifts. What could be better than the gift of a little peace and quiet time?
I can’t believe that Christmas is just 13 days away! Where has the time gone??? I know that this time of year can get pretty stressful trying to get all of the presents bought and wrapped, our homes decorated, the baking done, and the parties planned. And on top of that, of course, there’s still regular life to deal with!
Before we get to the post today, I just want to take a little time to remind you {and myself too!} that it’s okay to let some of that stuff go. Things don’t need to be perfect to enjoy the Christmas season. It’s time to prioritize your to-do list, and just focus on those things that matter most to you and your family. In the end, the other things won’t matter, and you’ll be able to focus more on all of the magic that the season has to hold.
So… I have a couple of things today that I hope will help you find a little more time this season to just relax. First off, I’ve teamed up with some of my blogging friends to share some beautiful – but simple – ways to wrap your gifts this year. If you have to wrap, you might as well have some fun while you’re at it! Put on some Christmas tunes or a Christmas movie and enjoy the creativity of the process. You can find all of the gift wrapping ideas at the end of the post, so be sure to check them out!
Secondly, I have a quick and easy Christmas gift idea to help you remind others to take a little “me time” this Christmas season – DIY bath salts and a free printable “Heavenly Peace” Christmas tag. These would be great for teacher gifts, hostess gifts, neighbour gifts, or even a fun little stocking stuffer. I mean, who couldn’t use a good long soak in the tub to the relax at this time of year?
I picked up a bunch of these plastic ball ornaments at Michaels last year at their after Christmas clearance. Not only do they work well for these bath salts, but you can also fill them with hot chocolate powder, candies, notes, or any other little gift that you can fit in. If you don’t want the gift to peak through, just put some pretty tissue paper in first to conceal the gift. Tie on a cute ribbon to the top {and maybe a little pinecone or pine twig}, and you’re done!
DIY Bath Salts Gift Idea
For these bath salts, I really just stuck with a basic bath salt. I usually add a little coconut or sweet almond oil, but since the ornaments aren’t airtight, I wasn’t sure how that would fair, and left the extra oil out. It still makes for a wonderful soak!
MATERIALS
- Epsom Salt {approximately 1 1/2 cups per ornament}
- Large clear plastic ornaments.{mine are about 4 inches in diameter}
- Essential oil {I used peppermint}
- Ribbon {optional}
- Printed tags {download HERE}
- faux greenery or pine cone sprigs {optional}
TO MAKE
- Download, print, and cut out the tags using a paper cutter {or scissors}. I deliberately did not put a border around the tags so you could choose what size you would like to trim them to. You can keep the edges square, round them off, or snip off the top to corners for a more traditional tag shape. Punch a hole in the top of the tag and write a message on the back if you would like.
- Mix 3 cups of Epsom salts with approximately 15 drops of essential oil {start with less as you can always add more} in a large bowl. I used peppermint essential oil for mine, but you can really use whatever oil you would like – lavendar, eucalyptus, citrus scents. If you prefer non-scented products, just use the Epsom salts on their own and you’re done! 😉
- Use a wooden spoon to stir the essential oil around and break up any clumps that may form in the salt.
- Transfer the bath salts to your ornament using a funnel. {NOTE: The bath salts are heavy, so the ornament will not actually be able to hung if you have a top like mine that does not tightly screw in}.
- Place some ribbon through the tag and tie around the top of the ornament. Add a sprig of greenery or pine cones if you wish.
One ornament will provide 1-2 baths depending on how much you like to add to the water. They should ideally be used within 2-3 months.
If you don’t make the bath salts, the tags can still be printed out and used as regular gift tags. They’d work well for any self-pampering gift idea like a bath robe, slippers, or anything from my hygge-inspired gift guide!

To download the tags, just click on the link{s} below to grab them. They are stored on Google Drive so it tends to work best with Chrome {although other browsers do work too!}. I have the deer tags like shown above and also created another option without the deer.

Merry Christmas Jenn!
I’m loving the printable calendar, and have already printed it for my desk at work.
I decided to go large and print as A4 – and put it in a picture frame I had.
So much nicer than the boring Word template versions!
