Happy New Year! It’s Susan from Love of Home. I hope you are well. The New Year means a fresh start and I love to have a blank journal or book in my bag ready for the lists I make on a daily basis. It’s also great when inspiration strikes I can jot down my idea before I forget! Truth be told, I’d be lost without my pen and paper. It’s a simple way to stay organized. This little washi tape notebook was such a fun and easy project to put together and would make a great gift idea too.
Every year Barnes & Noble has an array of blank journals they have nice sturdy covers and were less than $5! I have a few rolls of washi tape that I thought would look cute together and monogram stickers I got from Minted. Washi tape is a staple in my craft room. I use it on everything.
I decided on rows but you could really have fun and create anything you like on the cover. Maybe a chevron pattern or even a picture. You can measure if you like I just estimated the spacing. The great thing is that the tape is really easy to move if you need to so there’s nothing that you can’t fix if you don’t like it.
I wanted to add a little more function to my book so added a pocket on the front for notes or receipts. I added a self-affirmation too, who can’t use a little of that? On the back cover, I added a ribbon that I partially glued down that I can slip my pens around and another sweet reminder as well.
It’s small enough to fit in my bag, looks cute and it’s there when I need it!
If you’ve got Valentine’s Day on your mind, stop by. I created an easy Valentine card . Or maybe you’d like to try the raspberry pastry hearts I made or the sweet Valentine banner? See you next time!

Great idea! I don’t know why but, I feel totally lost without pen and paper. I can never have enough pen’s or paper or notebooks. Thank you so much for sharing this idea.
