Thank-you to UncommonGoods for sponsoring this post. As always, all opinions and ideas are 100% my own.
Choosing the right gift can sometimes be a difficult {and stressuful!} decision. For some people, you know exactly what you want to get and, for others, it can seem almost impossible. We all want to find that perfect gift that really represents the person we are giving it to, and no one wants their gift to end up in the dreaded “re-gifting” pile. Here are some of my tips {and some cool gift ideas!} to help you always pick the perfect gift that will be loved and remembered!
I’m always on the lookout for fun and unique gift ideas and was excited to recently came across UncommonGoods. UncommonGoods offers a huge selection of creatively designed, and often hand-made, gift ideas that are sure to please even the pickiest of recipients. I also love that they are a socially and environmentally friendly company supporting local designers and artists and choosing recycled and/or upcycled materials for many of their products. In addition, for each purchase that you make, $1 is donated to your choice of one of their non-profit charities. It’s a win-win for all! 🙂
To help you out with your next gift giving event, I have put together my top 5 tips on how to pick the perfect gift, as well as some of my favorite finds from UncommonGoods. And don’t forget to enter the giveaway at the end of the post, for a chance to win a $50 gift card to spend on your favorite find!
Top 5 Tips to Pick the Perfect Gift
- Look for unique and hand-crafted items that are not readily available in the big box stores. It’s always fun to get gifts that you have never seen before rather than something that you have seen at a big box store a hundred times. Look for items that you know your recipient will love but would likely feel guilty purchasing herself. It’s just that little something extra that makes the gift more special and one that your recipient will be sure to remember!

- Try to think back on past conversations or experiences that you have had with the recipient. Maybe you were over at their house for dinner and they remarked that they needed a new tea pot or you were talking on the phone and they mentioned how that their watch just broke. It will point you in the right direction for a gift and will be something that you know they will use.

- Think about what you want your gift to say. When you give a gift, you are doing more than just giving an object to your recipient – you are speaking to them. Maybe you are telling them how much you appreciate them or how inspiring they are to you. Maybe you are telling them that they are too busy and need to take some time for themselves. If you change your way of thinking, you will often just have that “ah-hah” moment!

- Think of what their hobbies are or what they would be doing in their spare time. This shows your recipient that you were thinking specifically of them and will help to ensure that it is a gift that they will love AND use! I love these ideas for the traveler in your life…
