I love a good tasty appetizer! Honestly, I think I’d be happy to just have appetizers instead of a main meal. And, as an extra bonus, they’re generally way quicker and easier to make! Baked brie is a favorite of mine and this cranberry baked brie version is my holiday go-to recipe. It takes less than 15 mnutes of prep time and is so delicious! I always make extra cranberry sauce for leftovers.
Cranberry Baked Brie Recipe
- 12 oz. cranberries, washed and dried
- ¾ cup sugar {I like using ¼ cup brown sugar and ½ cup white sugar}
- ⅓ cup water
- ¼ tsp. all spice
- ¼ tsp. nutmeg
- 1 cinnamon stick
- ½ an orange, juiced and zested
- 8-ounce round brie cheese, room temperature
- 2-3 tbsp. walnuts, finely chopped {optional}
- Fresh rosemary to garnish
- Pre-heat the oven to 350 F.
- In a medium sauce pan, combine the cranberries, sugar and water. Stir to combine and bring to a boil over medium heat.
- Reduce to a simmer and add the cinnamon stick, allspice and nutmeg. Stir to and simmer for an 7-9 minutes. Some of the cranberries will burst and some will remain whole.
- Add the orange juice and zest, reserving a small amount of the zest for garnish if desired.
- Starting with chilled brie, score or remove the rind using a serrated knife. Be sure to remove as little of the soft cheese as possible. This allows the cheese to get better exposure to the heat and will let air escape in a controlled manner.
- Place the brie cut side up in a brie baking dish or on a pie plate lined with parchment paper. Bake for 10-15 minutes or until the cheese is bubbly.
- Top with ½ - ¾ cup of the cranberry sauce and walnuts if desired. Garnish with extra orange rind or rosemary. Serve warm with crackers or crostinis.
If you happen to have any leftovers, this tastes delicious as a grilled cheese sandwich or warm it up in the oven to melt the cheese again and add to a turkey sandwich. You’ll also have extra cranberry sauce that I’m sure will be eaten up with other dishes!

Beautifully presented, yummy looking. Definitely one I will try. Can you tell me the brand of the thin-sliced fruit and nut- studded bread you are serving with the Brie?

Oh, those are the BEST crackers ever and actually taste really good on their own too. They’re President’s Choice brand from Superstore {in Canada}. They have a few different flovours but the cranberry ones are my favourite. They’re in the deli section – not in the cracker isle.
