Welcome to the last stop on the Cozy Christmas Home tour with Country Living magazine!
If you are just coming over from Anna’s gorgeous home – welcome! I hope you have enjoyed all of the other homes on the tour and thank-you so much for making it all the way to the end. I’m so glad to have you here.
Yesterday I showed you Part 1 of our Christmas Home Tour and today I’m going to show you the rest of our home, including our kitchen, family room, and main floor powder room. Come on in!
We have a really neutral kitchen so it is always fun to add some color for the various holidays. Even a few pops of red really brighten up the space and add that classic Christmas feel.
I purchased the Merry Christmas platter last year from Target but didn’t want to cover it up with food and decided that it would look nice as a wall plaque. I just ended up attaching it to the tiles with the Command brand velcro strips {I had to double them up to get enough thickness} and it has worked out great.
I added some of our DIY Cinnamon ornaments to the little tree in the kitchen and end up getting a nice cinnamon Christmas smell when I am doing the dishes.
I found this truck last year at Home Sense {Home Goods in the States}. It had a metal tree in the back that I pulled out and now I can use it to hold different seasonal decor throughout the year {like my pumpkins for our fall home tour}.
I always have fun changing up the chalkboards in our house and I kept this one fairly simple. For more Christmas chalkboard inspiration, you can check out this post.
I am always excited when the big boxes of mandarin oranges start coming out in the grocery stores as it always feels like the start of Christmas for me. I placed some under our cloche for a little extra color in the kitchen.
In addition to eating the mandarin oranges, I also love using them in this DIY simmering potpourri to make the whole house smell like Christmas. It really does smell good!
These boxwood wreaths are usually hung in the mirrors in our family room but I moved them over to the backdoor and added a couple of Christmas ornaments to them.
Next we will do a quick stop in our powder room. We did a bathroom makeover in here earlier in the year so it was the first time decorating it for Christmas. I just added a few Christmas touches to the DIY storage ladder, put out a few Christmas soaps and added a simple brush bottle tree.
And, finally, we will make a final stop in our family room…
I put together a new garland for the stairs this year and tried a different {and much easier!} way to hang it. {You can also find the tutorial for the DIY twinkle canvas here}.
I wish I could get a good picture of how pretty it looks all lit up a night – I love sitting on the sofa with just the Christmas lights on and relaxing for a few minutes before bed.
I picked up these faux fur lined stockings at an after Christmas sale last year. I had actually forgotten that I had purchased them so they were a nice surprise when I started going through our Christmas bins.
I love finding creative ways to wrap Christmas gifts so I made some faux presents to go under this little tree. I had to send most of my chalkboard ornaments in to Better Homes and Gardens for a feature in their holiday edition magazine, but I did have this mini Silent Night chalkboard left over and added it to the display.
Our Christmas tree and mantel is probably my favorite thing in the house. I have stuck with the traditional Christmas colors of red and white and added in some DIY snowy pinecones and silver and white ornaments.
I purchased these deer head stocking holders a few years ago now and I still love them. To get the stockings to hang evenly, I always stuff a little newspaper in them and they stay in place like a charm!
Our Christmas tree is a bit of an eclectic mix and it is always fun reminiscing as we put up the ornaments. We always purchase at least one new family ornament each year representing a trip or some other event that happened. The kids also have their baby ornaments and as well as ornaments that they have made throughout the years. I purchased the white pom pom garland last year. I really like how the white pops against the green of the tree so this year I added some white faux fur balls from Pier 1.
These Christmas wish list ornaments are one of my favorite Christmas ornaments that I have made with the kids and they always think it’s funny to see what they had asked for when they were younger.
I put these shelves up in our hallway a couple of years ago to cover up our alarm and thermostat. For all of our Christmas photos, I just leave them in the frames year round but put them into the back of the frame – it makes it super quick to change them up and provides a safe storage place. I made the Believe canvas a couple of years ago and the Sleigh Ride sign last year {you can get the free printable HERE}.
Whew! You made it through! I hope you enjoyed the tour and got some ideas for decorating your own home.

Somehow I bunny hopped to your Christmas tour from a pin on Pinterest about home organization, but I LOVE your home and your Christmas decor–especially your kitchen. It’s all beautiful. Where did you find your ‘red pick-up truck’ Christmas rug in front of your sink? I, too, have a small red metal pick-up truck that I use for my seasonal decorating, but I fell head over heels with your rug!
Again, thanks for sharing your lovely home. I now have some wonderful inspiration for Christmas 2016!
Blessings,
Amy O’Quinn

Glad you found me! I purchased the rug at a local store called Grandiflora (if you happen to be near Lynden, Washington!). I seem to have a thing for trucks and Christmas trees! 🙂
