Hello! I’m finally back! I know this post is super late, but I wanted to get the June Household Organization tasks up for those of you that have been asking. Truth be told, I’m still working on my Free Organization Printables, but, thankfully, June’s to-do list is actually pretty simple. This month we’ll be working on some laundry room organization and hopefully establishing a laundry routine that works for you!
If you’ve been wondering where I’ve been, I, unfortunately, don’t have anything exciting to report. I’ve just not been feeling myself and have been extremely tired since I got a virus in mid-April. Trying to keep up with family life has been enough of a struggle and I just haven’t had the focus to do much blog work. I’m hoping that some summer sun {if it ever arrives!} will energize me again. I also have a couple of really fun projects {that I’ve slowly been working on} that I can’t wait to show you!
Okay, you’ve been waiting long enough! Let’s get on with the tasks for this month…
I like to keep track of when I’m going to do what on a monthly calendar. Make your {realistic!} monthly plan and stick to it! Some people like to do a little each day and others would like to block off a longer time period once per week. Do whatever works best for your time schedule and personality.
Keep a notes sheet {or two!} handy to jot down any projects, home improvement ideas, extra tasks, etc. that you would like to do. You might want to use one for tasks that you would like to do this month and a second sheet for future projects that you would like to do.

Of course, this laundry room from Monika Hibbs is my new favorite and I love all of the cute laundry room organization items she has!
And I still really love the blues in this laundry room from Style at Home…
I’m hoping to do a few minor laundry room updates in the fall so I’ve been sourcing out lots of ideas! You can find more laundry room organization and cleaning tips on my laundry room Pinterest boards HERE and HERE.

I just had my dryer repaired. The repairman mentioned the difficulty of servicing built in washers and dryers. In most cases they have to rip the built in out t access the machines. He even mentioned having to take down entire walls. Even stacked washer and dryers require two people to repair because they have to take it down for service. To replace the thermostat in my washer he took off the top, control panel, front panel and door, removed the drum, and other smaller pieces. Basically, all that was left was the three metal sides. The dryer was all over my floor. By the way it was the computer and not the thermostat.
Any way, I just wanted to mention that. I like the look and was thinking of building a counter around my washer and dryer. It is a popular look now, but you might want to think about it carefully first. Mine is in a closet and was hard enough to access.

We have the counter above our washer and dryer, but they still easily pull out from the wall to clean behind or access for repairs. I love having the counter!
Becky says
You could also just keep the countertop detached, or make it easily detachable. I’d love to have a countertop!
Jenn Lifford says
Good point. I love having a countertop!

We have an odd laundry situation in the home that we rent. The washing machine is in the bathroom and the dryer is in the hallway. We have a cabinet above the washing machine that works well for storing detergent, stain removers and such. In the hallway, we put up a shower curtain rod to hold the hangers to make it easy to hang things right out of the dryer. But that is really all we can think of to help organize things. Any tips on how to organize when your machines are not side by side?
Jenn Lifford says
It sounds like you have a good system so far. What is it that you still find unorganized? How do you transport the items from the washing machine to the dryer?
Theresa says
My daughter uses a laundry basket and my husband and I just carry the clothes as the basket just seems to be one more thing taking up room. The door is set up so you have to open the door, go behind it, get the clothes and then partially close it to get out of the bathroom. I guess it is just not what I am used to because I am accustomed to a full laundry room with a laundry shoot dropping into it, shelves, baskets to put each person’s clothes, a rod for empty hangers and a rod for hanging those items to be taken to various rooms and hung up.
I suppose it is all relevant because in that house the laundry was in the basement and you had a long way to go with the clothes. In this house it is only a few steps to put everything away. I guess it just all doesn’t seem that efficient to me.

My Hubs really did not want to purchase the drawers for under the washer and dryer. I was insistent on them, because I use one for odd socks and mending. The other one is for ironing. It works like a charm. Thanks for the other organization tips.

Thanks, this is just what I needed, my laundry room is the room that always seems to be forgotten about when it comes to cleaning and organizing!

I stumbled upon your post on how to clean your washing machine. I attempted to wash mine and I thought I got all the gunk out of the gasket but the smell is still there. Pinned your post and looking forward to cleaning it right this time! #mondaylinky

I’m tuning in a tad bit late (It’s the beginning of August already!) but I just wanted to say that I absolutely love your free printables and other organisational materials you provide to us.
As a professional cleaner, I often find it hard to leave behind efficiency and fast results, and give quality attention to my house, “pamper” it if you will, make it really cosy and worthy of those fancy Pinterest boards many bloggers have. Once I open your blog, though, the thought of quick wins around the house vanishes and is replaced with envisions of fluffy blankets, comfy chairs and neat kitchen pantries. I receive the so needed inspiration and try to make the process of cleaning and organising my home a joyful one.
Jenn Lifford says
There’s really no specific starting point so you can join in at any time! Glad you like the printables. 🙂
