Simple Christmas front entry decorating ideas. Add a festive and welcoming greeting to your friends and family decorated in red and white.
A welcoming front entry makes it so much nicer to come home – especially during the Christmas season. I love opening the door to the Christmas lights twinkling and the light scent of frasier fir. Usually there are also three dogs stampeding to the door and their toys spread around everywhere {and generally a back pack or two!}, but I cleaned things up a bit for you for the pictures. 🙂
Christmas Front Entry Decorating Ideas
Our front entry is pretty open to the rest of the house with our dining room straight ahead when you enter {and our piano room off to the left}. This Ikea shoe cabinet has a slim build to maximize space but holds a ton of shoes as well as all of the dog leashes, and a couple of umbrellas.
Our “Drop Zone”
I always have the metallic bin on top to hold our car keys, wallets, and any other little miscellaneous items. The letter box also has a few hooks on it on the inside to hold a little change jar and sunglasses. Pretty much everything we need on a daily basis as we are running in and out of the house.
I loved this flocked pine cone wreath and just tied the Merry Christmas sign to it. I also love little Christmas gnomes and you can usually find one tucked away somewhere in each of our Christmas spaces. After Christmas, I’ll just take down the Merry Christmas sign and the rest of the wreath can stay up through the winter months.
A Touch of Red
One of my favorite finds this year were these cute ceramic red gum boots. I’ve always wanted Hunter boots but don’t think that I’d wear them enough to justify the price. These ones were a much, much cheaper alternative! I just added a faux sprig of cedar to one of them for that Christmas touch.
I didn’t use a lot of red when I was decorating the kitchen or dining room {actually I didn’t use any in our dining room!} this Christmas, but these little boots inspired to add more red to this space.
I brought in one of my favorite soft red throws {which comes with us to all of Connor’s hockey games} and added more pops of red with some Christmas wrapping paper and ribbons. Faux presents are an easy and inexpensive way to add color in your Christmas space and you can just recycle them after Christmas if you don’t have anywhere to store a lot of holiday decorations.
Some Cozy Christmas Touches
I found this Merry pillow at a local Christmas market {and kind of wishing I had picked up at least one more!}. I like simple fonts.
I didn’t get much from the Magnolia collection when I went down to Target but I did love their stockings. I liked how thick these ones were and you can never go wrong with pom poms. I have the red one in here and picked up the black striped one for our piano room.
A Fresh Christmas Scent
Every year, I splurge on a Thymes product in their Frasier Fir Scent. It smells SO, SO good and totally reminds me of Christmas. This reed diffuser puts out a really nice, light scent that is so good to come home to. If you haven’t smelled frasier fir before, look for it next time you’re shopping!
And there you have our little front entry! Lots of Christmas packed into a small space! I just love coming home to it – especially if the tree is already glowing. I hope you’ve been inspired by these simple front entry decorating ideas and get a few ideas for your own space!

Wondering where your tiered coat hook is from, please and thank you?
Jenn Lifford says
Thank-you!! I got the coat hook at a local store a few years ago. I’ve tried to find similar ones to link to as I get quite a few questions about it, but haven’t had much luck. The closest I’ve found is to look on ebay. Sorry that’s not much help!
