Happy Tuesday! Can you believe that it is already December 8? Every year I think that I have everything all under control with lots of time to get things done, and then suddenly Christmas just seems to be there right around the corner! I have also had a nasty cold that I have been dealing with, so if anyone knows a good way to stop a cough, my lungs and ribs would thank you! 😉
A couple of weeks ago I showed you our full Christmas home tour, but today I thought I would show you more of the details in our Christmas dining room. Even though we don’t spend a lot of time in here, it is the first room that you see when you walk in through the front door and I think it is one of my favorite rooms in the house.
I painted our furniture a couple of years ago with Annie Sloan chalk paint in graphite and it made such a difference in the room {you can see some of the before and afters HERE}. I also love the contrast between the dark furniture and the light walls and white dishes. Overall, it is just a nice neutral space that is a blank canvas for decorating each season.
This year, I kind of went with a rustic, woodland theme and I always start decorating this room with our buffet and hutch.
I kept most of our white dishes out and just added some Christmas touches around them as well as a couple of layered garlands and some lights to the top.
My only new purchases for the hutch were these white reindeer {from Superstore} and the little $3 Christmas tree from Target. I still have plans to transform it into a snow and glitter tree but we will see when that actually gets done.
I hung my Sage basket along with a couple of linens from a little ladder to fill up a narrow space between the hutch and the entrance to our kitchen.
We have our hot chocolate bar tucked away in the corner, but don’t worry – it still pretty much gets used on a daily basis around here!
On the other end of the room, we have a table to hold the table linens and a few other odds and ends.
The book page wreath has a chalkboard centerpiece that I change up each season.
And I turned my little greenhouse into a woodland wonderland. It looks so pretty all lit up at night!
Even our lights got all decked out for the season!
I hope you enjoyed my little mini tour! If you have any questions, just let me know!
Happy Holidays!

What is the Superstore?! I would love to find those white reindeer for my ex Mother in law. Her style is very similar to yours, and I think she would just LOVE these!!!
Thank you!

Beautifully done! For your cough, I have a couple of suggestions: 1) Some people swear by applying Vicks Vapo-rub to the soles of your feet while you’re sleeping. I’ve tried it in the past and it did seem to help. 2) Another thought is to put equal amounts (about a tablespoon each) of honey and lemon juice in a mug. Then fill the mug with hot water, stir it up and drink it. Or, you could just combine the honey and lemon juice and take it like cough syrup. Both of these ideas have been helpful in our family.
