Christmas Decor Inspiration
Before I bring out our holiday decor each year, I like to look back at previous Christmas home tours to get inspired for the season. I absolutely love Christmas decor and am so happy when I can finally start decorating! There’s just something magical and cozy about the holidays, and I try to reflect this in our Christmas decor.
The hardest thing for me about decorating for Christmas is that I love so many different color schemes and styles. It’s just so hard to choose what to do! Classic red and white, neutral tones, pretty metallics, flocked trees, real trees, green trees – there’s really not much that I don’t like! Each year, I try to switch things around and try different color schemes or styles in different rooms. It definitely creates a giant mess when I’m in the process of decorating, but the end result is always worth it.
Christmas Decoration Ideas
While I’m working on our Christmas decor for this year, I thought that an early Christmas home tour post {from last year’s Christmas decor} might be helpful. It’s always good to start getting those Christmas decoration ideas early! I have a few AMAZING home tours coming up at the end of November and beginning of December, but now you don’t have to wait for Christmas decor inspiration!
Christmas Dining Room
Our dining room is the first main room that you see when you come in our front door. I wanted to make this room fun and inviting and used mostly reds and whites for my color scheme.
This flocked tree is always my favorite tree to decorate. I added some little gnomes for a pop of red on the tree and carried the red accents to the decor and presents underneath the tree.
One of my favorite things to do with our Christmas decor is to create little vignettes throughout each room. It’s a great way to group similar items together to make them look more cohesive with your design. I think this Christmas gnome display turned out pretty cute!
I also always include a hot chocolate bar somewhere in our home for the holidays – sometimes there are even two! 🙂

Christmas Kitchen
I usually decorate with red in our kitchen, so it was fun to switch things up and go with green for a change. To add some more color, I dried oranges and used them as accents throughout the kitchen.
The gnomes also made an appearance in the kitchen {but this time in green!} with this Gnome for the Holidays print.
I like to incorporate twinkle lights into our decor as much as possible. The glow is just so pretty and cozy! Battery operated lights that have a timer allow the lights to turn on and off automatically so you don’t have to worry about forgetting to turn them off.
A Christmas centerpiece is the perfect way to add that festive touch to your holiday table. It doesn’t have to be anything fancy or complicated! I painted this vintage-style truck to match our green decor and then added some custom vinyl to the door for a cute Christmas tree farm centerpiece. Christmas Living Room
I went with greens and golds in our Christmas living room and carried on with the dried orange accents that I used in the kitchen.
The oranges look so pretty when they are all lit up!
You can use them for garlands, Christmas tree hanging decorations, gift toppers, and so much more!
And, of course, you need lots of lights for that warm, cozy feel!
