Christmas Wreath Veggie Pizza Appetizer
I think my favorite party food is always the appetizers. I’m more than happy to just skip the dinner and eat all of the appys! One of the other things that I like about appetizers is how quick and easy they are to pull together. This Christmas wreath veggie pizza takes less than 30 minutes to prep and can even be made ahead of time. What could be more festive? 😉
Christmas Wreath Veggie Pizza Recipe
This Crescent roll vegetable pizza recipe is always a hit at parties and family gatherings throughout the year, so I thought I would just change it up a bit to make it a little more Christmasy. You could even get really creative and form it into a Christmas tree!
Vegetable Pizza Christmas Wreath Appetizer
This veggie pizza Christmas wreath is a fun and festive take of a much-loved appetizer. It's easy to make, can be prepped ahead of time and is guaranteed to be a hit!
Ingredients
- 2 cans Pillsbury refrigerated crescent rolls {regular size}
- 1 package cream cheese {8 oz} Allow to warm to room temperature or place in the microwave for 15-20 seconds to soften
- 1/2 cup sour cream
- 1-2 tbsp vegetable seasoning You can also use other seasonings such as dill, rosemary or basil. Pick your favorites or mix it up!
- 1/8 tsp garlic powder
- 1 large head broccoli, chopped
- 1/2 cucumber finely chopped
- 1 red pepper finely chopped + save extra for the bow
- mini grape tomatoes
Instructions
-
Pre-heat the oven to 375F.
-
Unroll the dough and separate along the pre-cut vertical lines {not the diagnol lines for the individual crescent rolls}. Fold these in half to double the dough.
-
On an ungreased cookie sheet or pizza sheet, start laying the dough down to form a circle. Press the dough down so the width of the ring is approximately 4 inches. {NOTE: If you have a smaller cookie sheet, you may not use all of the dough.} I used an upside bowl on the inside of the ring to get a nice even circle and then just placed the dough around it.
-
Bake for 10-12 minutes or until the crust is golden brown. The baking time can really vary depending on the thickness of the dough, so be sure to check it often to avoid burning on the bottom. If your pastry is puffing up a lot, you can poke it with a fork so it doesn't rise as high. Remove from oven and cool completely.
-
In a small bowl, mix the cream cheese, sour cream, and seasonings until well combined and smooth. Spread evenly over the crust and then add the broccoli, cucumbers and red peppers. Press the vegetables lightly into the cream cheese. Top with mini grape tomatoes. Use the bottom of the red pepper and two strips of red pepper to make the bow.
-
While you can serve this immediately, I prefer it chilled. Cover with Saran wrap and refrigerate for 1-2 hours prior to serving.
Crescent Roll Veggie Pizza Tips
- Heat the cream cheese in the microwave for 15-20 seconds to soften it up before mixing it with the sour cream.
- If you want to make the pizza the night before, just leave off the cucumbers and tomatoes until serving time. Refrigerate and cover well with Saran wrap.
- Add extra flavor by using chive or garlic and herb cream cheese.
- Try mixing up the herbs and seasonings for different flavor combinations. Dill, thyme, basil, parsley, rosemary, ranch seasoning – whatever you like!
- I don’t like the crust to be too thick so I prick it with a fork about half way through baking time so it doesn’t rise as much.
Enjoy! I hope you have some fun holiday parties to go to! If not, you might have to plan one!

This recipe is now on my to do list for sure! My neighbor used to make a similar wreath pizza with fruit, strawberries, kiwi, blueberries, etc., and the cream cheese mixture incorporated powdered sugar or marshmallow crème… not sure which… whatever made it thick and rich, no doubt… It was yummy.

I used to make this appetizer for Christmas before my Celiac diagnosis. It’s delish!!! Any alternative suggestions for making this Gluten Free?
Jenn Lifford says
I don’t have a lot of knowledge with gluten free baking but I believe the only thing with gluten is the dough. There are some gluten-free ready made dough products that you could substitute or maybe a gluten free pizza dough?
Ronda says
I made 3 of these this year and after the first one I tried a little trick that worked very well, especially for my husband taking one to work.
After baking & cooling, I cut the crescent base into serving size wedges with a pizza cutter. Then, i transferred the base to my serving tray and spread the cream cheese mixture (carefully…helps to not be too cold) and finished with the toppings. Hubby didn’t have to worry about cutting it up or having coworkers struggle either. It was ready to go!
Jenn Lifford says
Glad you enjoyed! Thanks so much for the tip!
Paige says
Excellent recipe. It was great for my gym holiday party. Very festive and easy to make. Thank you!
Jenn Lifford says
Hope you enjoy! 🙂
Annette Weber says
Can this be made a day ahead or does the crust get soggy?
Jenn Lifford says
I often make it the night before and then cover well with Saran wrap and place in the fridge. I usually add the cucumbers and tomatoes fresh if I’m serving to guests but I’ve eaten leftovers the next day and it still tastes great (the cucumbers just don’t look as fresh).
Irma says
Quick question – do you leave the bowl in the middle during cooking time or remove it?
Thanks and Merry Christmas 2021
Jenn Lifford says
You just need it for forming the shape and you can remove it for baking. I hope you enjoy and Merry Christmas to you too!
