A couple of weeks ago, I showed you my twinkling Christmas canvas and today I am back with another Christmas canvas art project…
If you follow me on Instagram, you may have noticed that I seem to have a thing for deer heads this year. I’ve been using lots of reindeer touches throughout my Christmas decor and wanted to add a little bit of a whimsy with this canvas. When I picked up the wooden deer head, I wasn’t sure what I was actually going to do with it but as soon as I saw the believe sign it all came together in my head!
Materials
- Wooden reindeer head. You can find these at Michaels or other craft stores. I purchased this one last year at the after Christmas sales for less than a dollar but I have seen them there this year as well. If you do not want to purchase the wooden silhouette, you could always paint directly onto the canvas {or use a stencil if you have a digital cutter}
- White and grey acrylic paint.
- Sponge brush.
- Believe sign or other wording of your choice for the bottom. {I picked mine up in the dollar bin at Michaels}.
- Glue {I used Quick Grip}
- Red Baker’s Twine.
To Do
- Paint your canvas grey and the wooden deer silhouette white.
- Using your glue attach the head and the Believe sign to the canvas.
- To make the pom pom, wrap the baker’s twine around 3 of your fingers approximately 30 times. Slide it off your finger {making sure not to let it unravel} and wrap tightly once around the middle and tie. Cut the rounded ends of the twine. Fray twine, fluff, and trim down ends to your desired size.
- Attach the pom to the reindeer’s nose with glue.
Definitely a quick and easy project but it is one of my favorites! I am getting so close to finishing up my Christmas decorating – I can’t wait to show you!

Thank you! I love this project and it was easy for a novice crafter like me! I added white glitter to the deer and used a red bell for the nose.
