Hello! I’m excited to get back to another month of The Household Organization Diet! Hopefully your garages are all cleaned and organized after having two months instead of one to get them done! I’m sorry I had to skip August {you can read why HERE},but I’m just going to push everything forward a month so we’ll still be able to get all of the rooms done. Are you ready for some kids bedroom organization and cleaning?.
This month we’re going to be tackling all of those kids’ spaces including the bedrooms as well as any kids’ play spaces that you may have. I find that back to school time is the perfect time to be cleaning and organizing the kids’ areas – you need to go through their clothing anyways for the new school year {and due to the change of seasons}, art and school supplies need to be organized for homework, and, after a summer of play, it’s easy to see what toys they did and didn’t play with.
Even though it can seem like it’s more work, I always recommend doing these tasks with your children as much as possible based on their age and maturity level. I think that kids are more likely to follow through with the plan if they have helped to set it up and it teaches them organization skills from an early age. My kids have actually come up with some pretty good ideas, so try to run with their suggestions if you can. They might not totally get it at first, but it will come! 😉
So here are the tasks for this month…

The lego mini-figure board is such a great idea, and it is super adorable. We probably have enough of those about to do an entire wallpaper like it!

We could too by now! It is the one toy, however, that my kids play with year after year so at least it was a good investment! 🙂

Thanks for posting this – i am just starting to use your program and love the idea of being super organized in a binder. Is there anyway you can post blank Monthly calendars for Oct Nov and Dec early so I can get our crazy Schedule down on paper? Best organizing plan and site I have found!
I am going to incorporate my menu planning as well!

Hi Michelle,
I’m so glad you like the system! I probably won’t get a chance to get a head start this year BUT you’ll be happy to know that my plan for next year is to post ALL of the calendars in January. Hope that will be helpful!

Wow! So many incredible ideas for organized kids rooms. Not gonna lie, I think I might steal some of those toy storage ideas for my craft room! Lol.

A good organization idea can always be transferred over to other spaces and other uses. lol! Happy organizing!

I love that LEGO minifigure wall. My son would be so happy to have something like that in his room. Thanks for joining the Family Joy Link Party!

WHere can i find ideas for smaller rooms? Or do anyone have any suggestions?
Jenn Lifford says
While we do have bigger kids bedrooms, the same principles can all be applied to a smaller space. I love using under the bed for extra storage. The long, shallow Rubbermaid bins work great for this and can easily store toys out of site while still making it super easy to clean up and access. Also think of going vertical as much as possible using upper shelves for more decorative items and lower shelves for items that your kids use more often. Cubby storage with bins is also a favorite of mine for kids storage as the bins make it really easy to access but keep things totally looking clutter free. They’re great for storing groups of smaller items. Again, you can even go up with the cubby storage to save on floor space – just make sure they’re properly anchored for safety reasons. Hope that helps! 🙂

This blog post helped me a lot in cleaning and organizing my kids’ bedroom. It’s hard to clean and organize a kid’s room and it becomes even harder when it comes to clean the play area or spaces where their toys are kept. All moms must be aware of the struggle to get such spaces organized. But it becomes a whole lot easier when you know which toys your kids like to play with and which toys they no longer play with. When you know the toys your kids don’t play with anymore, you can take them out and donate them to Brickrecycler.com to free the space. They accept old Legos and send them to the kids whose parents can’t afford to buy them.

I’ve never heard of BrickRecycler. Great idea!
