It’s the first Wednesday of the month, so it’s time for another 10 Minute Decorating post! I am back with my blogging friends to bring you our quick and easy Christmas decorating ideas to inspire you for the season. Christmas is always a crazy time of the year so hopefully all of these projects will add some beauty and creativity to your holiday decor without taking you hours to put together. Make sure to check out the other ideas at the end of the post, but I will get started with my 10 minute decorating project – using presents {or faux presents!} in your Christmas decorating.
I have always loved paper . I can walk around the scrapbooking and paper stores for hours looking at all of the pretty patterns and designs. There are so many different options, that you will definitely be able to find something that suits your style and color preference. Kraft paper has always been a favorite of mine for wrapping since it can be used year round and dressed up for any holiday or special occasion. Try pairing it with a favorite Christmas wrapping paper for some extra color {or go with black like I did!} and to add that Christmas touch. I’m loving the Kraft paper with black and red this year.
Most of my “presents” are from left over boxes that we had around the house, especially cereal and cracker boxes and packages of Kraft dinner. Some of the smaller packages are pieces of foam that I have cut up to the size I wanted or smaller jewelry boxes. Once the gifts are wrapped, the fun part comes in dressing them up. I like to add fresh {or faux} greenery, Christmas bells, pretty ribbons, twine, or cute tags or handmade ornaments. These DIY cinnamon ornaments work great for a present topper and can then be used afterwards for a tree ornament and check out this post for more creative ways to wrap Christmas gifts.
Get creative with where you place your presents. Create little vignettes with smaller presents tucked into empty spaces or fill a crate or basket with some greenery, lights, and a few pretty gifts. Even the plain gifts can look pretty!
Just make sure you know what presents are real presents and which ones are the faux presents or your child might end up with an empty box of cereal for Christmas! 😉
