If you have been around here for a while, you know how much I love my chalkboards! They are always one of the first things that I change up each season and I have lots of fun trying to figure out what to draw on them. I am definitely not an artist, so chalkboards are a great medium for me as they are so easy to erase and correct as you go! Don’t be scared – even simple chalkboards can look beautiful and they are a ton of fun. And if you still really don’t want to give it a go, there are always the printable chalkboard options!
I’ve been getting things ready for our Christmas Home Tour next week {that I can’t wait to show you!} and thought that I would give you a sneak peek at my Christmas chalkboards from this year. I’ve also included my chalkboards from last year and some favorite Christmas chalkboards that I have pinned over the last couple of years. I hope you enjoy them and are inspired to add a little Christmas chalkboard love to your home. 🙂
I think the chalkboards this year are really representative of the whole Christmas style in our home – a little rustic with the traditional pops of red and white.
For all of my chalkboards, I always start with a rough sketch on a piece of paper to get a better idea of the spacing and then really lightly rough in a basic outline on the chalkboard. I will erase anything showing at the end with a wet Q-tip but most of it ends up being covered up by the finished design anyways.
And here is a chalkboard printable for you, if you aren’t quite ready to break out an actual chalkboard yet…

Your chalkboards are great! I love that the ones in your home are actual chalk boards and not printed. Hand lettering doesn’t come so easily to me but I keep trying..

Hi Jenn, wonderful selections. I struggle with getting my chalk drawings looking this good. I must practice more.

Ok, I am inspired to have a chalkboard now. So did you make yours or buy? I would like one with the weathered frame look.
Jenn Lifford says
I bought mine. While they would be a fairly easy DIY project, unless you want a really big one, they’re probably almost as economical to buy one. Hobby Lobby, Michaels, and HomeSense (or Home Goods in the states) often have ones with a weathered look. Have fun with yours!
