This no bake Oreo cookie frozen dessert recipe is very simple to make and tastes just like an ice cream cake – WITHOUT the messy melting. It’s the perfect spring or summer dessert recipe for parties or backyard BBQs!
Taste of Spring Progressive Dinner Hop
Hey guys! Today I am joining in a Taste of Home Spring Progressive Dinner hop with some of my favorite blogging friends. We are each sharing one of our delicious spring recipes to celebrate the season with you, so be sure to check out all of the links at the end of the post. I have a huge sweet tooth, so it should really be no surprise that I am bringing dessert!
Oreo Cookie Frozen Dessert Recipe
This cookies and cream frozen treat can be made in less than 30 minutes and is so easy to put together. It has a delicious, creamy taste just like an ice cream cake but without all of the mess! It’s one of the kids’ favorite summer desserts and is always a big hit at our summer BBQs!
- 4 oz semi-sweet chocolate
- 16 Oreo cookies {divided}
- 250 grams cream cheese, softened
- ¼ sugar
- ½ tsp vanilla
- 2 cups thawed Cool Whip whipped topping
- Line a 8½ inch x 4½ inch loaf pan with tin foil. {NOTE: This is easiest to do by molding the foil over an inverted pan. Leave about 3 inches of foil extending over both sides of the short end of the pan and crease at the corners. Once molded, turn the pan over and slip the foil liner in place.}
- Arrange 8 Oreos evenly along the bottom of the pan. Place remaining 8 cookies into a ziploc bag and crush. Set aside crumbled cookies.
- Melt chocolate in the microwave on medium heat. Stir after 1 minute and every 30 seconds following until completely melted. DO NOT OVERHEAT. Set aside.
- Beat cream cheese,sugar, and vanilla in a medium bowl with an electric mixer until well blended. Stir in whipped topping.
- Remove about 1½ cups of the cream cheese mixture and place in another bowl. Stir in the melted chocolate.
- Spread the remaining cream cheese mixture evenly over the Oreos in the bottom of the pan. Sprinkle the crushed Oreos on top and gently press into the cream cheese mixture. Top with the chocolate mixture.
- Cover with plastic wrap and freeze for at least 3 hours until firm.
- Remove from freezer a few minutes prior to serving. Invert the pan onto serving plate and carefully remove foil. Allow to soften slightly before slicing to serve.
Since I am a chocolate junkie, I used the chocolate Oreo cookies for this dessert but the plain ones are just as good too. I hope your family loves it as much as we do! Enjoy! 🙂
