Happy Sunday! I hope you are all having a great weekend! I have been happily organizing all of my kitchen cabinets and drawers again after having to remove everything for some painting. {Did you see the disaster on Instagram?} I can’t wait to get things back together again!
I have also pretty much completed everything on my March To Do list for The Household Organization Diet. I showed you our laundry room on Thursday and today I am going to show you our front entry. I didn’t really have too much to do in here other than tidy a few things up and go through our shoes, but it’s always fun to add some spring touches though and play around with some of the little details!
Since I last showed you our front entry, we have had the oak baseboards painted out in Simply White by Benjamin Moore and painted the walls Old Soul by Benjamin Moore. The colors look quite similar in the photos but the Old Soul is a little more gray than the previous color and just seems a little brighter.
We have two main storage spaces in the front entry – our bench and an Ikea Stall shoe rack. There is also a closet just a few steps down the hallway where we keep our coats and other seasonal items that we don’t use on a regular basis {I’ll show you that tomorrow when I post about the mudroom}
I painted the bench a couple of years ago with Annie Sloan Chalk Paint and it has held up really well considering all of the use that it gets. The lid flips up for storage underneath where we just usually keep some hats, scarves, and mittens.
Most of our gear gets stored in the Ikea shoe rack. I added some vinyl numbers to break up that big block of white and have a little “mail box” at the end that I can put in letters or other papers that need to go with me when I leave the house.
There are three bins in the unit and each one will hold 6 pairs of large men’s shoes so it is plenty big enough for us.
We also keep the dog leash and flashlights in the top bin and there is still room for more.
Since we get alot of rain around here, I also have this DIY pebble boat tray that we use for wet shoes.
I found the metal toolbox at an antique store and added the Bienvenue with this easy DIY wax transfer technique. It keeps the car keys, phone, sunglasses, etc. all in one place!
In the other corner of the entry, we have a small coat rack and a little basket for holding umbrellas and other little items.
We just really use the coat rack for my purse, accessories, and guests’ coats as I like to have our coats tucked away in the closet. 😉
Have you organized your entry way yet? You can do it!!

What a beautiful and welcoming entry Jenn. I love how you customized that big IKEA shoe holder with the No 1 etc… did you use vinyl or paint? The mailbox and boot tray are such cute additions too!
Jenn Lifford says
Thanks Krista! I just used vinyl on the IKEA unit. I change my mind too often for paint! 😉

Thanks so much Sandra! The boot tray has been very well used in our rainy weather!

Your entryway is absolutely wonderful!! And I’m loving your “tiffany blue” purse. Where did you find that?
Jenn Lifford says
Thanks so much! I got the purse last year at The Shoe Company – I loved the color too!

I love your organized entry! I am pinning this for ideas because I love every single thing you did. Is the mailbox a new one that you distressed to look old? I also love the step stool with the red chippy paint! What an awesome entry you created!
Jenn Lifford says
Thanks Lori! I actually purchased the mailbox with the distressed look already but that would be a fun DIY project! I bought the step stool thinking that I would paint it but I loved the chippy look too!

I love your entrance way. So pretty. I’ve seen the shoe tray pebble idea before. My only question on that would be how do you clean it. Isn’t it a hassle to take all the rocks off and clean the tray. Any suggestions would be great.
Thank you
Jenn Lifford says
I glued all of my rocks down. If it needs cleaning I can just hose it down. 🙂
Lori says
Hi Jenn,
I know this post is more than 3 years old, but I’m really interested in your wall coat hook. Where did you purchase it?
Thanks!
Jenn Lifford says
I got it at a local store – Grandiflora. If you happen to be in the Lynden area of Washington, I know they often have similar styles in stock.
