Happy Monday! I hope you all had a wonderful weekend! If you are participating in The Household Organization Diet, today is the day that we move onto the bathrooms!
Here are the tasks that we will be working on this month. Depending on how many bathrooms you have, you may also have some more time this month to go back and complete any tasks that you were not able to finish in the kitchen or to start to tackle some items on your project list.
You can download the above list HERE {or a blank April To Do list HERE} and add them to your cleaning binder.
Since we have four bathrooms to work on, I plan on doing one bathroom per week. That should make it totally do-able!
Okay, so to start you off for this month, I have come up with a few general bathroom cleaning tips that I use to try and make my bathroom cleaning time more effecient. I have a house full of boys so bathroom cleaning seems to be a never ending job. 😉
Quick and Easy Bathroom Cleaning Tips
- I only deep clean my bathrooms from top to bottom once each month. This generally takes me about 30 minutes per bathroom {a little more or a little less depending on the size} Otherwise, my cleaning is done on a daily “as needed” basis.
- If your bathrooms are spread out on multiple levels throughout the house I would recommend at least keeping a basic cleaning supply in EACH bathroom. My basic cleaning list includes the Norwex Sanira Toilet Cleaning System {I love this because the toilet cleaner is already built into the brush}, a Norwex window cloth {this cleans the windows, mirrors and polishes up all of the fixtures}, a Norwex microfiber cloth, two spray bottles {one with water and one with water and vinegar}, and a scotch brite scrubber {that I fill with water or water/vinegar to clean the bath and shower}.
- Have a spot to hang your cleaning cloths. I either keep these in the linen closet or on the inside of the cabinet doors. I use the Command Strip hooks to hang mine. The window cloth usually only needs to be washed weekly. I re-use the microfiber cloth if I am just washing down the coutertops or showers but place it in the laundry if I have been cleaning floors or the toilets {you can read about the anitbacterial silver agent in the Norwex Enviro cloths here}.
- Clean as you go. Get in the habit of washing off the counter tops after you use them just as you do in the kitchen. Since the cloths are hanging right there this should be easy to do and it only takes about 20 seconds.
- Clean the showers and bathtubs as soon as you are done. Grime will be much easier to remove due to the hear and, if done on a regular basis, should hardly take any time at all. I use a scotchbrite brush filled with water and vinegar to give everything a quick clean {depending on what type of tiles you have this may be too abrasive so you could also just spritz with a water/vinegar and wipe down with a microfiber cloth}
- Do quick two minute “power cleans” as needed. Give the toilet a scrub, wash down the mirrors or windows, or spot clean the floor in the corners or other dirty areas. Each time you go to the bathroom do a quick check to see if anything needs to be done. If you have kids, another great time to do this is when they are brushing their teeth. You can supervise the teeth brushing and get things cleaned all at one time!
- I use vinegar for a lot of my bathroom cleaning and it works great. It is an acidic cleaner, however, so DO NOT use it on marble.

I feel quite smug on this topic, we have no cupboards in our bathrooms , mine has an over junked shelf . What my bathrooms do need is a darn good deep clean .
There are no curtains either so just need to get down on hands and knees and clean might wait until the 12th , of never only joking its on the list

I don’t have a cabinet in either of our bathrooms either as of right now. Thankfully my bathroom isn’t that messy and I do basically everything you listed once a week anyway. I do need a shelf or some kind to organize the clutter on my sink.. so I’ll just work on decorating it instead:)

Thank you for sharing on Weekend Wrap up Party.
Do you “believe” in the Norwex products? I have been debating if it is fad or worth it.

I keep a little spray bottle of water and vinegar in the shower to spray after I’m finished. It keeps soap scum from building up too fast, and it’s a lot cheaper and less toxic than those commercial anti-scum sprays.

I have marble counters and floor in my second bath. What would you recommend using instead of the 50/50 water/vinegar?
Jenn Lifford says
Yes, you definitely don’t want to use vinegar on marble! I have a steam cleaner, so I use that for our bathroom with marble floor. Castille soap mixed with water (about 1 tbsp to a quart of water} also works great as a green cleaner for marble.
