The March Household Organization Diet
Happy March! {Yes, I realize that this is a bit late!} Time is flying by, and it’s time to tackle a new room for this year’s Household Organization Diet. Hopefully you made some good progress on your kitchens last month and are ready to tackle those bathrooms for March!
This month we’ll be working on decluttering, deep cleaning, and organizing our bathroom spaces. An organized bathroom space not only helps to save time, but it also creates a more calming environment for all of your self-care routines to start and end your day. It’s time to create that relaxing, spa-like bathroom that you’ve always wanted!
Bathroom Cleaning and Organization Tasks
Here are the tasks that I’ll be tackling in each of our bathrooms. You can print out the list as shown below or print out a blank one and customize your own to do list. If you have multiple bathrooms, you can always print out multiple copies too.

March Calendar
Print out the calendar below and schedule in some time to get your tasks done. It can be a small amount of time each day or two, a few hours on the weekends, or a full day devoted to just getting things done. Choose whatever works best for your personality and schedule.

I use this section, to write down little jobs or projects that I would like to do in the space as well as any particular items that I would like to buy {either for now or in the future}.
How to Clean and Organize the Bathroom
Now that you have your printables ready, let’s get started on cleaning and organizing those bathrooms!
STEP 1: Declutter
There’s no point cleaning or organizing items that you don’t use or need. Remember that the better job you do with the decluttering process, the easier your cleaning and organizing will be {both now as well as for your daily and weekly cleaning!}. To really do a good job of decluttering, you need to completely empty out those cupboards, drawers, and linen closets, and honestly go through and evaluate each item. I’ve written a whole post on decluttering tips and tricks in the bathroom so be sure to give it a read if you’re having any trouble with the process or need some ideas for items that you can declutter! Be ruthless and keep only those items that you use and love.

Step 2: Deep Clean
Before you start to put back those items that you decided to keep from the decluttering process, give your bathroom a thorough deep cleaning from top to bottom. Since the cupboards are already emptied and the counters are cleaned off, it will make it much quicker and easier to get into all of those corners and other hard to reach areas. You can find all of my bathroom cleaning tips, checklists, and tricks in the posts below.

STEP 3: Organize
This is always my favorite step! Start by sorting all of your remaining items into categories, grouping like items together. Decide how and where you would like to store them. Keep those items that you use regularly closer to the front of the cupbords or in other easily accessible areas. Try to keep the counters as clutter-free as possible and use trays or baskets to store those items that you do need to leave out.
There are a ton of awesome bathroom organization products available on the market, but start by shopping your home first. DO NOT go put and purchase storage or organization products until you have a better idea of what you actually need. If you’re looking for storage ideas, check out the posts below. I have lots of suggestions for how to organize your bathroom, storage products to use, and space-saving tips!

This is super nice.
I live in Europe and we are not blessed with big American bathroom with plenty of storage space… Sad.
So it is really important to use all our space in the vanity optimally.
Last month I got so tired of everything overflowing in there and never being able to find anything that I needed. So I pretty much did like you.
Declutter, deep clean and organize. The last step is my favorite too. I love how you say not to go and buy some storage solution before you are sure what you need and like. I have done this so many times and then it didn’t work out in the long run. Waste of money. So this time I took some of the IKEA skubb boxes from my kids’ wardrobe and categorized all my toilatries in them. And I loved it. The stuff I don’t use often in the back and the stuff I use often in the front. It was super simple and super easy. And when I need anything from any category I just take out the box. Things don’t get messy and it fits tons of stuff.
Thanks for the simple explanation. and the reminder of how happy I was with my project.
Isn’t it funny how much joy you can get from organizing. haha.
