Spring Decorating Ideas
Today I’m joining some of my blogging friends to show you some quick and easy spring decorating ideas. 10 minutes is all you need to complete these pretty DIY projects and add a little spring to your home! You can find all of the projects and links at the end of the post, but I’ll be starting with this simple spring terrarium…
DIY Spring Terrarium
One of the easiest things to change up each season is your table centerpiece. It really doesn’t have to be much, and I especially love pieces that you can just swap out the fillers. I can see lots of other uses for this little terrarium in the future. Maybe a little herb garden for our summer patio?
Materials
- glass terrarium, hurricane candle holder/vase, or other glass decorative piece
- soil
- faux stems {I got mine at Michaels}
- greenery {faux or fresh clippings} or moss
- spring decorative pieces {birds, nests, bunnies – whatever you would like!}
To Do
- Place some soil in the bottom of your container.
- “Plant” your flowered stem in the soil. Bend and fluff it out until it fills the space to your liking. Depending on the size of your stems, you may need to cut it down using some metal cutters or use two smaller pieces.
- Add a couple of clippings of faux or fresh greenery to the bottom of the terrarium to make it look a little more realistic. A little moss also adds a pretty spring touch and a nice pop of color.
To pull it all together, I placed the terrarium on a round wood tray and added a few more decorative pieces. A couple of jars and a few ceramic white birds complete the look. The smaller jar is filled with a couple of different salts and the larger jar can hold some fresh blooms, cutlery, napkins, or whatever suits my fancy! 🙂

Your terrarium makes a great centerpiece. It was smart to use some natural elements from your yard along with the faux blooms. It really looks pretty!

Your terrarium is really pretty. I tried to make a living terrarium a few years ago but it molded. I love your idea of using faux plants so that that doesn’t happen.
Jenn Lifford says
I never even thought about mold! Faux plants for the win! 😉

Jenn,
I love this.
My mom gave me 3 big apothecary jars for Christmas and they’re gathering dust. I love the jars but didn’t know what to do with them. I’m inspired to make a spring centerpiece for our annual Mother’s Day brunch.
The 10-Minute decorating idea theme is a hit.

I really like that you used real dirt along with faux plants- it gives it such a realistic, organic look!
Jenn Lifford says
It definitely gives it a more realistic look without the hassle! 🙂
