Happy first day of Spring! I am SO ready for some warmer weather, spring blooms, longer days, and the rest of our spring home tour!
Today I’m joining in the Canadian Blogger’s Spring Home Tour hosted by my sweet friends Shannon at AKA Design and Christina from The DIY Mommy. The tour will be going on all week from coast to coast. You can find all of the other bloggers on the spring home tour at the end of the post, so be sure to head on over for a visit!
For those of you that are new here – WELCOME! I’m so glad you could stop by. Last week I showed you our spring and Easter dining room, and today I’m taking you around our kitchen and family room.
I always love changing the kitchen up with different pops of color, and this spring I went with something a little different for me – purple! I’ve never really used purple in our decor before, but I fell in love with these flowers. And then I found matching Mrs. Meyers cleaning supplies and I was hooked. 🙂
My old bouquet of flowers survived a good two weeks but I finally had to replace them. I created this less expensive version using carnations and alstroemerias. I still need to add a little more greenery but I still love that purple! Try using floral foam for your flower arrangements – they last so much longer.
Since I was going with a purple theme, I created this free spring printable to coordinate with the flowers. You can download your own copy {as well as find 25 more free spring designs!} HERE.
If you saw our Easter Tablescape, you know that I love white ceramic bunnies. I was going to put a flower in this one, but he preferred fresh carrots.
In the other corner of our kitchen, I’ve set up a little “health bar” that I use when I’m making smoothies and salads. I’m really trying to eat healthier and I find that having a visual reminder out in the open really helps to keep me on track.
I dressed it up with some of the extra flowers that I had to tie in the purple.
I also downloaded this cute Farmer’s Market printable from my friend Kellie over at Nest of Posies. Isn’t it cute?
The colors worked perfectly in the space and the whole farmer’s market and healthy eating goes well together.
All of the colors make the kitchen feel so much brighter – especially when the weather isn’t cooperating outside. I’m hoping it will encourage the sun to come back.
I also dressed up the hutch off the kitchen. I’ve been thinking of painting this piece for a while now. I’m just ot sure what to do!
If you do a 180 from this kitchen view, you’ll end up looking at our family room.
I used a lot of greens and blues throughout this space. They’re kind of my “go-to” color combination.
I don’t do too well keeping plants alive, but I usually can manage a fern. I also placed some faux hyacinths in a planter filled with planting soil to make it look more realistic.
You can also see my new book, The Home Decluttring Diet, peeking out from underneath it! Have you ordered your copy yet? 😉
This sweet spring bird water color print is another one that I downloaded from our free spring printable hop last week. This one is from Lucy at Craftberry Bush.
I guess I’m loving water color prints this year because I also downloaded this cute bunny from Finding Silver Pennies from our free printable Easter hop. It’s so nice having talented friends!
The blue and green color scheme came from these beautiful faux flowers. I pulled a few of the blues from the flowers as well as adding some navy blue in with the throw pillows.
I hope you enjoyed the tour. Happy Spring my friends!

Looks lovely and oh-so you!
lol! Yes, it’s definitely me! 🙂
Congratulations on your beautiful home. If you are to paint your hutch (off the kitchen), and I must say the wood tone offsets your white decor quite nicely, perhaps you could try a blue to match your colander and plate displayed in your corner cupboard. Just a thought.
That’s a good idea! I like the wood finish too – I just wish it wasn’t so bright.
Thanks for putting together such an inspiring tour! Loved those carrots with the bunny!
