These simple fall front porch decorating ideas will add a welcoming touch to your fall home.
It is definitely feeling like fall here. Even when the sun makes it out during the day, the evenings are still cool with that crispness of fall in the air.
Today I’m joining Taryn from Designing, Dining, and Diapers for day 1 of a fun week-long fall front porch hop. There will be new fall porch decorating ideas shared each day, so be sure to follow along at the end of the post for the next stop. For those of you visiting me from Anderson and Grant, welcome! I’m so glad you could pop by!
Decorating our front porch is always one of the first things that I like to do each season. I’m usually all decorated for fall as soon as school goes back at the beginning of September, but the pumpkins seemed to come out later this year than usual and I was beginning to wonder if I would even have them in time for the tour. After a couple of unsuccessful trips to our local pumpkin patches, a friend of mine actually picked me up a bunch {and I may have gone back to pick up more!}
I love all of the different varieties of pumpkins – it seems like they come up with a new one each year! I found these buckwheat pumpkins at one of our local patches and have never seen them before. They’re really smooth and have a pretty orangey-gold tone to them. They almost look like they were painted!
I used some faux leaves to fill in around the empty spaces between the pumpkins, and I’m sure the wind will probably add some real leaves as the season goes on. 🙂
Of course, you can’t forget the mums on a fall porch. I picked up these huge white ones a couple of weeks ago from Home Depot and love how full they are. I also added a couple of smaller ones to some old summer hanging baskets that I stenciled a couple of years ago.
If you like color, there are still lots of annuals that will keep your porch looking cheerful until the first frosts hit. I just added the planter to an old apple basket that I had from last year. I can always bring it right up onto the porch if it starts to get too cold but it works right now at the bottom of the stairs.
I love how the sun looks as it hits the porch in the evening. There just seems to be a different glow in the fall.
Thanks so much for stopping in – I hope you enjoyed your visit! I’m the last stop on the tour today {you can find all of the links for the other stops below}, but the fall porch hop will continue bright and early tomorrow morning with Debbie from Refresh Restyle! Enjoy!

The pastel colors on the pumpkin look perfect on the porch – they keep the vibe of Fall while also being chic. Stopping by from the Create and Crave party.
