Hey guys! I’m SO excited to finally be able to share the first part of our Christmas home tour with you! I’m joining forces with Christina from The DIY Mommy and some amazing Canadian bloggers from all over the country to invite you into our homes as we decorate for the holidays. I look forward to these Christmas home tours all year so I hope you will join in! In case you missed the previous days, you can find the links to all of the tours at the end of the post.
Christmas is my favorite holiday of the year and getting the house ready really puts me in the Christmas spirit. So put on some Christmas music, grab a mug of hot chocolate and come on in! I will keep the tour short on words, but enjoy all of the photos and just let me know if you have any questions. Welcome!
Our front entry has kind of a rustic Christmas lodge vibe this year. The plaid vintage blanket pillow was a new find this year and I printed out the cute wagoneer print from Craftberry Bush.
I use a lot of faux presents around the house to fill in empty spots and they also work great in crates or baskets that you have around your home.
I purchased this old ladder a few years ago at a local store and love to dress it up for the different seasons too. I was originally going to paint it, but the green and red chippy look grew on me and it stays out year round.
If you turn to your left when you enter our house we have a sunken room that we use as my piano room and a little office and computer space.
The piano is my old piano from when I was growing up. It could really do with a good tune-up but still works well for Christmas carols.
I always love dressing up my chalkboards for each season. They are an inexpensive way to add some holiday spirit to your space and don’t take up any room in storage once Christmas is over since they can be used all year. I brought out the Christmas tree cupcake liner garland from last year and did a new Christmas design. For more Christmas chalkboard design ideas you can check out this post here.
I always like to add some Christmas lights to each room, so I put a small tree and a crate of greenery that I filled with Christmas lights in the corner. We have old photos of the kids {and even some with just Dave and I} with Santa spread throughout the house – one of my favorite things to look at each year when I pull out the holiday decor!
Next you come to our dining room which is usually the first room that I decorate each season. I painted the buffet and hutch {and dining room table} a couple of years ago with Annie Sloan chalk paint in graphite and I love the look of the black against the white plates and other decorative items.
I purchased this ladder from Decor Steals last year and use it to hang extra napkins or decorative towels. The hanging box can be used for additional storage as well and it’s a good place to add a few seasonal touches!
Probably my favorite thing in the room is our candy cane hot cocoa bar.
I created this Marshmallow World printable to go with it and it inspired the marshmallow terrarium.
You can read more about the hot cocoa bar and get the recipe for our candy cane hot chocolate over here. There are also free printables for the tags if you would like to create a hot chocolate bar of your own.
On the other side of the room I have another Christmas chalkboard. I have kind of been obsessed with any kind of vehicle with a tree on it this year!
I hope you that you enjoyed your visit. I will be back with the second part of our home tour tomorrow and will show you the rest of our house along with the tree! To continue on with the Canadian Bloggers’ tour, be sure to drop by each of these ladies’ beautiful homes and say hello. They are all so unique and creative – you are sure to be inspired by each and every one.
