So I seem to have a bit of a key problem. Last week I finally got around to sorting through all of our keys and discovered 13 “mystery” keys. I have tried them on every lock that I can find and still have no idea what they are for. I think a couple of them are for old cars that we no longer have but I have no idea about the rest. Apparently we have some kind of key troll living in our house! 🙂
In order to tame my little key troll, I decided to label and organize all of my keys using these cute Label-Label Key Caps. Aren’t they pretty?
Once I had all of my keys sorted out into the ones that I wanted to keep and the ones that were headed for the trash, it was time to get things going! The Label-Label key caps are made from a super stretchy flexible plastic so they fit over almost any key size and shape. No more mismatched key sizes! They also have these two little knobs on one side, so even in the dark you can still tell which way is up on the key. {It actually took me a few minutes to figure out what these were for, so a few of my keys have them facing the wrong way in the photos. Not my smartest moment!}
One of the other things that I loved about these key caps were the laminated labels. My keys definitely take a beating so it is nice to have the added protection of the laminate and I love that you can label directly onto the keys without worrying about the ink wearing away. While the key caps came with common pre-printed labels, there were also tons of blank labels left to customize my own.
To add the label, you just peel back the top laminated layer, write what you would like, and then place the laminated layer down over top before sticking the label onto your key. You can then trim down any excess before putting your key cap on. If you prefer to have your custom labels typed, you can even purchase extra label sheets to print your own labels directly from your computer.
And when you are done, you are left with a cute set of matched, labeled, and organized keys! Good-bye key troll! 🙂
Since I know you guys will love these key caps as much as I do, Label-Label Key Caps is giving away key cap packages to 10 lucky readers! {Sorry – US residents only} In addition, they are also giving away a $50 gift card to everyone’s favorite store – Target!!!
Just follow the Rafflecopter prompts below to enter. Good luck!

I have a house and a Lakehouse. When I moved to my house I had all the locks keyed to the Lakehouse key. All the locks at the Lakehouse were already keyed the same. Now I have one key that works every lock on both houses. : )
Also, a tip. Have someone put an “anti bump key” tab in your lock. I watched on tv where you can buy a bump key online and open any door that doesn’t have an anti bump key thing installed. All my locks have those. Thank goodness my lock guy mentioned it.
Jenn Lifford says
Interesting – never even heard of an anti bump key! Our doors are now coded so we’re down a couple of keys to organize. lol!
