Today I am so excited to be joining Shannon from AKA Design, Christina from The DIY Mommy, and 15 other amazing Canadian bloggers to bring you our summer home tours!
Here are the fabulous ladies that are up on the tour with me today…
After the tour, I hope you are able to take some time to look around at some of their beautiful and inspirational spaces – you won’t be disappointed!
But for now, let me welcome you to our home…
My husband and I purchased our home in January 2002, shortly after we were married. Moving from a basement suite to an almost 4500 square foot house was a big change to say the least and, due to budget and lack of time, updates took a little longer than we first anticipated {we may just be finishing up our to-do list from over 12 years ago!}.
When we first moved in, almost the entire house was painted peach {including peach walls, peach doors, and peach speckled ceilings}, and there was peach carpeting in many of the rooms. Getting rid of the peach was definitely priority number one and we have been slowly working our way through the list since then. Two kids later, we are still working on completing everything that we would like to do, but we love our home and will probably be staying here for many, many years to come!
This is what greets you when you walk through the front door. We have quite an open floor plan on the main floor so, from the front entry, you can see right through the dining room and into the kitchen. The white Ikea cabinet stores all of our shoes {and then some!} and there is a coat closet just down the hallway to your the left for our coats and other daily items {you can read more about our front entry organization HERE}
Moving forward from the front entry, you can either go to your left to the piano room and towards our laundry room or move forwards into the dining room.
The whole dining room got a paint makeover a couple of years ago – including the walls, baseboards, table and hutch. You can read more about that HERE.
Continuing on through our dining room, we move on into the kitchen. We did a big kitchen makeover in the Spring and have been thrilled with the results {you can see the before photos HERE and read more about the makeover HERE}. I know white kitchens are not for everyone, but I have been coveting one for years and I love it!
Off to the side of the kitchen, we have a small desk space that we use as our command centre.
The kitchen then opens up to our kitchen eating area and great room {just behind the table}.
Out through the back doors, you will come to our back patio. We added this on to the house about 5 years ago, and we love to eat out here whenever possible. It is one of my favorite places during the summer and I always hate packing things up when the weather starts to get cold in the fall.
Back inside we have a great room, off of the kitchen. This room will be my next project – I have been searching forever for a {much larger} carpet but can’t quite seem to find what I want for a price that I want!
We did update our fireplace and mantel this year and I have also finished off the wooden crates since I took the photo above.
Moving upstairs to the bedrooms, we first have Matthew’s room. All of our three bedrooms are very large in size so it gives the kids lots of room to play without having to have a dedicated playroom.
Then there is Connor’s room…
…and our master bedroom and master bathroom.
Thank-you so much for joining in on the tour today – I hope you enjoyed it! If you are new to my blog, I would love to have you stay connected! Let me know you dropped by and follow along here…

So beautiful Jenn!! I always hate packing up the outdoor furniture for Fall here- I guess it is because we know we are in for a long grey season on the West Coast! Thanks for the beautiful tour- pinning and sharing!
Jenn Lifford says
Hopefully we will at least get a beautiful September and can enjoy another month of outdoor eating! Thanks so much for dropping in! xo
Tanya from dans le lakehouse says
Great tour!! I especially love your kitchen – it’s so bright spacious. The counters and tile backsplash are fabulous.
Jenn Lifford says
Thanks Tanya! There is an interesting story behind those counters as they were not the ones we actually ordered but we are very happy with them now! 🙂 Loved participating in the tour with you!

Hey Jenn! Lovely to meet you. Your home is adorable. I’m a BC gal too and have the exact same thoughts when it comes to putting away all my outdoor living items. Anyways, this tour has been a great way to meet a lot of fantastic Canadian bloggers!
Jenn Lifford says
I’m always so happy to meet other BC girls!! Hoping this lovely weather continues and we get a little longer this year to enjoy our outdoor spaces. 🙂 Thanks so much for dropping in!

Beautiful thanks for sharing! This gives me the motivation to redo a couple spaces in my home!!! I have 3 kids under 2, so it’ll be awhile til everything goes from practical to pretty again!!!
Jenn Lifford says
Yes, we had a parking lot full of Little Tykes cars and a gas pump in our dining room for years! It will come!
Jen @ Ramblingrenovators says
Your home is so lovely! It feels bright and airy and I like the openness of it. I like the hints of blue and turquoise throughout too!
CAROL JANE says
Your home is beautiful. The only thing I would change is your entry way paint color. A gray would be beautiful. Not the pinky beige.
Jenn Lifford says
Thanks for joining in on the tour! The pinky tinge is not actually there in real life – it’s just from the lighting and my lack of photography skills! While I would love to change the color at some point – it would require painting the whole house and is well beyond our budget right now. 🙂
Angie@Echoes of Laughter says
You have such a beautiful home Jen! I love how big your bedrooms are and your NEW kitchen look is fantastic! You must be so happy that you got the cupboards painted! Have a lovely weekend! Angie xo

Holy cow that’s a big house! You’ve done such a good job of filling it with welcoming touches and you’ve definitely de-peachified it well! Thanks for inviting us in!
Jenn Lifford says
Thanks Courtenay! It has definitely taken much longer than we anticipated but we are happy that there is no more peach! Fingers crossed it does not come back in style! 😉

I was curious if you painted the bed in the master and if so would you share the color and technique? I love it!
Jenn Lifford says
Yes, I painted the bed using Annie Sloan Chalk Paint in graphite and sealed with the dark wax. You can see more details here with a before picture {sorry – it is an old post and I have not yet resized everything since switching over to Word Press!} Hope that helps!

You have a gorgeous house, I aspire to have mine the same… Neat, tidy and yet so homely. How do you find the time to keep everywhere looking so nice? I have no children, but work full time. I struggle keeping everywhere so organised and neat, and I have so many jobs and wish lists for my house but I just don’t get round to getting them done.
Jenn Lifford says
Well it’s not always that tidy, but I try to at least keep the main floor clean and tidy on a daily basis. I have a basic daily cleaning routine that I stick to pretty faithfully – it’s SO much easier for me to do a little each day then to tackle a big mess at the end of the week. Here’s the link to the post on that if you are interested…

Katie says
hi. I love the desk in matthews room. Where did it come from? Thanks!
Jenn Lifford says
Sorry I’m late in replying. The desk is from Ikea – one of their mix and match ones where you pick the top and the legs separately.
