Usually I do pretty well with eating healthier during the summer. This year, however, our summer started off with a two week vacation to an all-inclusive resort and I kind of got used to the standard “two trips to the buffet” for each meal. I’ve had a hard time getting back into a regular eating routine since we returned home {I’m still craving those chips and guacamole!}, but I thought that this topical green smoothie recipe would be a good way to remind me of Mexico while still providing a healthy dose of nutrients!
If you are trying to increase your intake of fruits and veggies, smoothies are a great way to fit them all in. This tropical green smoothie recipe provides lots of healthy nutrients while still tasting delicious. Even my kiddos {who can be picky eaters!} give it the thumbs up!
- ½ cup mango
- ½ cup sliced pineapple + slice for garnish
- ½ banana { I like using frozen bananas but you don't have to}
- ½ cup orange juice {or any other juice, almond milk, soy milk, etc.}
- large handful of spinach leaves
- 1 tbsp sprouted chia and flax seeds {optional}
- Add all solid ingredients to the blender and then top with juice {or other liquid choice}.
- Blend until smooth. If it is too thick, add a little water and if you like it thicker, add an ice cube or two.
- Garnish with a pineapple slice.
Sit back and enjoy! 🙂
