This month I am working on cleaning and organizing the kitchen as part of The Household Organization Diet {you can find the plan HERE}. I am also super excited that we are finally going to be getting a bit of a kitchen makeover too! Our kitchen is now over 20 years old and is in need of some updates. I have been dreaming of a mini kitchen remodel forever and filling up my Pinterest board with all of my favorite kitchen finds. Unfortunately, I don’t have the budget to do everything that I would like, but, hopefully, it will be a big step up!
Now that the time has come to actually pick what I want, I find that I am having a bit of “design paralysis”. Too many ideas and not enough kitchens to decorate! I definitely know that I want white cabinets but I’m not sure if I should go all white or do more of a two-toned look. I have always been a bit of a black and white kind of girl but the all white is just so pretty and timeless. I’m also having the same dilemma with the countertops – light or dark? And then there is that darn budget that keeps railroading my plans…
In an effort to help get things straightened around in my head, I have put all of my favorite kitchen design ideas together and thought that I would share them with you. Each one has certain elements that I am drawn to but I can’t say that one stands out as my absolute favorite. Pulling them all together though does help to bring a little clarity and I think that I am starting to get a little vision forming in my mind. So here they are…

So what do you think? Any design tips for me? I’d love to hear them!
I can’t wait to get started and show you what we end up doing!

We have so many of the same kitchens pinned Jenn! I just wish I had the SPACE to do a big island… we have to change out our window/door configuration just to wrangle in a peninsula. I love the all-white too- but with hits of blue somewhere… not sure where yet!!

We have a decent sized kitchen but it wouldn’t work with an island either. 🙁 Love the pops of blue! Looking forward to seeing what you come up with! xo

We did an all white kitchen 20 years ago and I still love it. I did do the counters in a light gray speckle corian. I believe they had 12 colors in Corian. Granite was out of the question because of price. The white corian was a different shade than my cabinets and made me cringe. I have a vinyl ‘brick’ floor which many people feel is dated but it contributes to the farmhouse feel I prefer. Last summer I acquired a 2′ square wood chopping block which is being used as an island in my 12 x 12 kitchen. I have decorated it with my collection of cheap (TJMaxx, Home Goods) transfer ware and I haven’t grown tired of that either. Of course, I am not far removed from the generations that bought furniture once and rarely got a chance to do anything else.
White is versatile and ageless in my opinion. If I had a chance to do it over, I would chose a ‘wood look” floor of some kind. Twenty years ago the engineered wood floors were cheap and flimsy. If black and white is your thing, there are many black accessories to make it distinctively yours.

Thanks for all of you input! Your kitchen sounds lovely! We were looking at Corian too but I think we are going to do with quartz for the added durability for our two boys. 🙂

Our corian cracked along the seam when I had my electric grill on the counter. It was repairable but quartz, I am told, is much more durable.
I will enjoy seeing your kitchen come together..

I must be in same generation. I get caught up thinking my choices in my kitchen will have to last, so here I am 4 years later still trying to figure out what to choose. Atleast you have made some choices. I am looking at hickory floors that will continue to my kitchen and sunroom. Black and while and french country is my style I think lol…Any ideas welcome…Kathy

It sounds like you have a good start! I find that it’s sometimes hard to plan everything out at once and like to do it in smaller stages. The ideas seem to flow much better for me once I actually start to see things up.

Some great ideas here. My favourites are the brick shaped white tiles and the butlers sink. I think they’d work well in any sized kitchen. When we did our kitchen I bought a huge stainless steel bowl that had the drainer fitted across it and a smaller bowl (for everyday use) suspended into it too. I thought this was a great idea for flexibility giving me the best of both worlds. In reality it’s a nightmare to clean as stuff gets caught under the suspended bowl and the large bowl takes forever to fill. I wish I had gone for the butler sink.

So many beautiful kitchens – you know how I love a white kitchen and add marble counter tops and I’m completely smitten. Incredible ideas.love some of the details in the kitchens.

I love the 14th kitchen! I’m trying to find the same backsplash but I’m having trouble. Do you have any info on it?
Jenn Lifford says
No, sorry! (I saw your comment that it was the 13th kitchen you were looking at). I went back to the original source and it looks like tons of people were asking about the backsplash on that post. Unfortunately, no one answered. The best I could suggest would be to take the image in with you when you go to a tile store and see if they can source it.
