Last week I showed you our front porch and today we are moving inside for our fall home tour. So come on in and make yourself comfy!
When you first come in the front door, our little owl {of Instagram fame!} is always waiting to greet you. The first main room that you see when you enter is the dining room.
I have been in the process of re-doing our dining room since last November. Big projects obviously don’t move too fast around here! The hutch and table {as well as the walls and baseboards} have all been painted – I just have a few finishing touches and the chairs to go. For now though, I will just focus on the fall decorating. 🙂
I picked up this little side table at Home Sense {Home Goods in the States} over the summer for $30 and it is just the right size for the corner. The top actually lifts right off to use as a serving tray as well so it will come in handy for larger dinner parties. I’m hoping that someone will cook me the dinner that I wrote on the menu board but so far no luck!
I made this pumpkin bunting a couple of years ago and it is still holding up well. {You can see a few before shots of the buffet and hutch if you click on the link too!}
Our apple cider bar sits on the buffet and has been getting very well used.
On the other side of the room is another small buffet.
I changed out the chalkboard on our book page wreath…
…as well as the chalkboard sign that hangs on the wall.
In the family room, quite a few changes have been made to our fireplace and mantel. I’ll have to get some more photos soon but here’s a little sneak peek for now!
I made this Harvest sign last year. It is very simple but it is actually one of my favorite fall decorations. I cut up a large leaf garland to surround it and added a few more twigs and some mini pumpkins and gourds.
The hall shelves also got a quick fall update with our ruffled felt pumpkins and a few twigs, leaves, and pinecones. {You can read more about the DIY photo canvases HERE}
And that wraps up the tour! Thank-you so much for joining me!

Jenn, I love your blog! You are such an inspiration. What a treat to see your beautiful home. I think the dining room chairs are a beautiful contrast to the dark table and hutch! Stunning! Maybe don’t paint them?!
Thank you for sharing your beautiful home, your creativity and your beautiful family.
Happy Fall and Happy Thanksgiving next week!
Jenn says
Thanks so much! I am a big black and white girl so I am planning on painting the chairs white. I agree that I definitely need a contrast to the rest of the black! If they were more of the wood color of the small hutch I would totally keep them but they are an orangey honey color that I am just not liking anymore! Happy Thanksgiving to you too – I love seeing my Canadian readers! 🙂

Jenn,
Let’s talk Modalu. I have the green Pippa. I had no idea it was going to be suede when I ordered it and it has been the most annoying thing. I’ve spend hundreds getting it cleaned and the spots still are there. Are you loving yours? How does your material feel? I’ve been thinking of ordering this one.

Lol! Okay it took me a second to figure out what you were talking about! My handbag is actually a Baci Italy bag but I looked on the Modalu website and it looks exactly the same as the Pippa. I love mine and it has held up really well. It is a really smooth buttery leather but I’m not sure if the materials are the same? Do you have a suede brush to clean your purse? Sometimes an art gum eraser or a little bit of vinegar on a cloth {blot – don’t rub!!} will work too. Good luck with your purse hunt! 🙂

Lovely! I especially like your driftwood sign on your mantel. I am not sure where to get driftwood…..but would love to make one that says “Thankful”. Do you usually buy real white pumpkins for your table or are those fake? If they are fake, do you have any recommendations on where to buy “real” looking ones? 🙂
Jenn says
I grabbed a bunch of driftwood last year when we were at a camping trip but if you don’t happen to have a beach near by, you can just buy some wood and go to town distressing it! You can add a couple of nails and bang it out with a hammer or chains, and then stain and distress. You can also try distressing it with vinegar and steel wool. All of the pumpkins are real EXCEPT for those two pumpkins on the table. They have some at Michaels that are pretty good but I actually just picked these ones up at our dollar store, banged them up in a few places with a hammer so they weren’t perfectly round and added a little brown ink in places with a makeup sponge. Hope that helps!

I love the random owls throughout the house. My husband really wants one of those white ceramic owls, might have to let him get one after seeing this. Happy fall!

You have such pretty simple touches of fall throughout your lovely home. My kinda style. I especially love the white ceramic owl. Can you tell me where you purchased?
Thanks for sharing.

Thanks! I purchased the owl at a local store called Spruce Collectibles but I have seen similar ones at Michaels and Pier 1. They seem to pop up everywhere! Hope you find one!
